If you haven’t gotten around to reading my profile yet, I’m a nurse. I work in a hospital in San Antonio.
I was at work this afternoon and a co-worker of mine got on board the elevator, along with me and a nurse’s Aide (CNA) I work with. The co-worker and I started talking about all the work we were getting lately, and she made a comment about not getting hurt on the job. I responded, “That may be the only way I’d get some time off.”
She responded, “But you wouldn’t get paid!”
I said to her, “Ah, you forget! This is the Obama Administration now. The Stimulus Bill just extended Unemployment compensation for a full year!
She rolled her eyes and made a face, and got off at her floor. She wasn’t mad.
The CNA is still on the elevator with me. She is seething. “Why do you want to say something like that?,” she snapped at me when the doors closed.
I’m taken aback, to say the least. “Like What?”
“Talking bad about the president like that!” She’s visibly angry now, and spitting those words like machine gun bullets. I explained that what I had said was true; that the Unemployment benefits had been extended in the Stimulus Bill. Don’t believe me? Google it.
The door to our floor opened, and we got out. As we walked down the hallway she said to me under her breath, “You better watch out that somebody doesn’t report you for that!”
Report me? To whom? And what for; for telling the truth?
What the HELL is wrong with this stupid little shit? Is this where we are? Are we at the place where anything even “suspected” of being disloyal to ur Dear Leader Comrade president is actionable?
The answer may be yes. It ocurred to me that if this little shithead brownshirt knew I wrote this blog; if she knew my extent of activities with Twitter and the #TCOT group, she very well could have gotten me fired for being “Hateful”, what with Nursing being the PC-oriented place it is.
Very easily could have. And me, having been alone with her in the elevator, there were no witnesses, so who are they going to believe?
Her, most likely.
