Something very odd is happening. That the mainstream leftist media refuse to cover it makes it harder to find out about this, but not impossible. Here’s some of the pieces of the puzzle I’ve noted in recent weeks:
** The Israeli Defense Forces are in their second week of a war with Hamas in the Gaza Strip which started when Hamas began firing missiles into Israel at alarming levels; resulting in many innocent Israeli deaths. Israellycool blog is liveblogging the war hour by hour.
** Spanish anti-Semitism is on the rise once again. According to a recent study published by the Pew Research Center, nearly half of all Spaniards have negative views of Jews, a statistic that marks Spain as one of the most anti-Semitic countries in Europe. According to Pew, 46 percent of Spaniards hold negative opinions of Jews, up more than double from the 21 percent of Spaniards with such views in 2005.
** Anti-semitism is on the rise in France as well. Comedian and professional anti-Semite Dieudonné M’Bala M’Bala invited onto the stage during his show Robert Faurisson, noted French Holocaust denier. This happened while neo-fascist Jean-Marie Le Pen was in the audience.
** Muslim immigrants to Sweden are engaging in violent crimes aginst native Swedish. National Swedish newspaper DN reports that rock throwing against buses has increased with more than 66% from 2007 to 2008. Amazingly, this means that rock throwing is now increasing at an even faster rate than gang rapes of native girls.
** Groups of young men, self-described anarchists, have been spreading mayhem in the streets of Athens and other cities throughout the country. The damages are estimated to be more than €100 million so far. More than 400 stores and other businesses have sustained damages in Athens alone.
** Belgian television networks received a video with masked Arabs claiming to speak on behalf of al-Qaeda. The men threatened attacks in Belgium if the country does not pull its tiny military contingent from Afghanistan.
** Pro-Palestinian demonstrators rampaged through the heart of the London Jewish community, attacking businesses and assaulting a motorist. Police have increased patrols and security following the incidents in Golders Green, North-West London, amid concerns of further trouble during Shabbat.
** Arab League rioters enter Jewish quarter of Antwerp during anti Israel demonstration. 200 rioters marched into the Jewish district of Antwerp rioting and destroying car windows, trams, and buses. There were also fights with the police who had closed off the district.
As I read these articles and others like them the last month or six weeks, I couldn’t help feeling there was something vaguely familiar about this scenario. It took me a while to figure it out.
It’s startlingly close to what we were told to watch for if the old hard-line Soviet Union was going to invade Western Europe. Spetznaz commandos would be inserted behind Western lines to cause civil unrest, disruption of communications, and general chaos. It draws attention away from the real objective; makes coherent planning difficult; and paralyzes thr powers that need to be reacting to the problem. It would be the prelude to the war between the USSR and the West.
The question is . . . who wants this war now? And again the answer is simple. What hard-line Muslims want to destabilize the West? More directly, what hard-line Muslim group could afford to fund these groups causing the chaos?
See how quickly Iran popped to mind? Easy, wasn’t it?
Very likely Iran thinks that by causing this chaos they can cause a distraction. Perhaps they want to distract Israel from it’s war in Gaza. Perhaps they want to cause enough chaos to distract Israel from the impending strike on Iranian nuclear facilities they think must be coming soon, before the end of the Bush administration.
Or perhaps they’re trying to cover for something of their own they have planned. That’s the possibility that has me quietly terrified. A nuclear strike of their own? On whom – Israel? The West?
Whatever they’re planning, I don’t like it. I hate it when Joe Biden is right.
