From the Blog of David Wilkerson, the famed Pastor of “The Cross and the Switchblade. Worldnet Daily has more on him if you’re unfamiliar. I’ll comment on it as we go:
I am compelled by the Holy Spirit to send out an urgent message to all on our mailing list, and to friends and to bishops we have met all over the world.
AN EARTH-SHATTERING CALAMITY IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. IT IS GOING TO BE SO FRIGHTENING, WE ARE ALL GOING TO TREMBLE – EVEN THE GODLIEST AMONG US.
For ten years I have been warning about a thousand fires coming to New York City. It will engulf the whole megaplex, including areas of New Jersey and Connecticut. Major cities all across America will experience riots and blazing fires—such as we saw in Watts, Los Angeles, years ago.
Just an observation here; a fair sized nuclear weapon would do just this; very efficiently, very quickly. You wouldn’t even need a missile to launch it; you could put one in the hold of a ship and sail it right into New York Harbor. As the hub of the world’s economic community, New York has long been the targetr of the enemies of America. Che Guevara dreamed of putting a nuke right onto Wall Street. Islam has twice attacked the World Trade Center there as a symbol of Western capitalism.
There will be riots and fires in cities worldwide. There will be looting—including Times Square, New York City. What we are experiencing now is not a recession, not even a depression. We are under God’s wrath. In Psalm 11 it is written,
“If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (v. 3). God is judging the raging sins of America and the nations. He is destroying the secular foundations.
The prophet Jeremiah pleaded with wicked Israel, “God is fashioning a calamity against you and devising a plan against you. Oh, turn back each of you from your evil way, and reform your ways and deeds. But they will say, It’s hopeless! For we are going to follow our own plans, and each of us will act according to the stubbornness of his evil heart” (Jeremiah 18:11-12).
In Psalm 11:6, David warns, “Upon the wicked he will rain snares (coals of fire)…fire…burning wind…will be the portion of their cup.” Why? David answered, “Because the Lord is righteous” (v. 7). This is a righteous judgment—just as in the judgments of Sodom and in Noah’s generation.
“Raining burning coals” on people’s heads sounds suspiciously to me like the firestorm that would result from a nuke.
WHAT SHALL THE RIGHTEOUS DO? WHAT ABOUT GOD’S PEOPLE?
First, I give you a practical word I received for my own direction. If possible lay in store a thirty-day supply of non-perishable food, toiletries and other essentials. In major cities, grocery stores are emptied in an hour at the sign of an impending disaster.
That’s just good advice anyway. Personally, I always keep a case of bottled water in each of my cars, and 2 or 3 stashed in the house in case of hurricane. It’s just a few bucks per case.
As for our spiritual reaction, we have but two options. This is outlined in Psalm 11. We “flee like a bird to a mountain.” Or, as David says, “He fixed his eyes on the Lord on his throne in heaven—his eyes beholding, his eyelids testing the sons of men” (v. 4). “In the Lord I take refuge” (v. 1).
I will say to my soul: No need to run…no need to hide. This is God’s righteous work. I will behold our Lord on his throne, with his eye of tender, loving kindness watching over every step I take—trusting that he will deliver his people even through floods, fires, calamities, tests, trials of all kinds.
Also good advice. We could *ALL* use more church in our lives. Might even hear some things you’ll like, or even need.
Note: I do not know when these things will come to pass, but I know it is not far off. I have unburdened my soul to you. Do with the message as you choose.
God bless and keep you,
Now, it’s possible to walk down the street of any major American city, pretty much any given day, to find some guy street preaching repentence and the end of the world. Very likely if you live in a city, you’ve seen one of these folks in the last week or so. Those guys I smile and nod to, but don’t pay them much attention, because they’re always around, and always have been.
However, when a noted pastor, author, and church leader like David Wilderson, with everything to lose by making a rash pronouncement like this does so, I sit up and take notice. Either we’re about to see a very public embarrassment, or a very public prophecy come true.
Neither is a good thing in one way or another.
I think there are several things that can be definitively said from this:
1.) There is a very high stress level in the country generally. Psychologists will tell you that in times of high stress such things as nightmares, waking dreams, or ‘visions” are common in the population. I would HHOPE that’s all it is, although it could be what Wilkerson says it is as well.
2.) This is a perfect time to attack an economically weakened U.S.A. The current chaos of Wall Street and the markets makes a quick response by the U.S. industrial complex more difficult. The attack on Pearl Harbor was planned on a United States that had been in the throes of a Depression for over 10 years, and was no coincidence.
3.) This is also the perfect time to attack a United States with an Indecisive, Weak President. Just imagine for a moment; if Iran (for instance) threw a nuke our way, do you think President Obama would retaliate militarily, or “negotiate” with Iran?
Iran is very familar with the concept of strong U.S. Presidents. Iran held the American Embassy hostages for 444 days under the Carter Administration, and released them the day and hour of Ronald Reagan’s inauguration.
4.) Finally, A Pop Quiz:
(A) What country has been infiltrating supplies and personnel into Iraq since 2003 to destabilize that country, and is still doing so today?
(C) What country is trading with Russia for nuclear technology?
(D) What country just bought hundreds of centrifuges to accelerate their nuclear enrichment program?
(E) What country has been predicted by the CENTCOM Commander as well as the IAEA to be capable of producing nuclear weapons this year?
The answer to all of the above is . . . Iran. As David Wilkderson said, “Do with the message as you choose.”
