After Months of Spluttering and re-stating her initial contention that the CIA has somehow lied to or mislead Congress (a charge CIA doofus-in-charge Leon Panetta initially denied) San Fran Nan is at it again, with an old refrain much-heard trom the Obama Administration lapdogs:
The former US vice president Dick Cheney directed the CIA not to inform Congress about a counter terrorism program that the CIA director, Leon Panetta, ended last month, according to revelations by US intelligence officials.
Which by it’s very definition it was not required to be told to Congress. Only programs in full operation are required briefing information — not prototypes that haven’t been fully deployed yet. If San Fran Nan had paid attention to the briefing instead of texting her BFF she’d know that.
The programme, the nature of which is not known, was set up eight years ago after the 9/11 attacks, reported the New York Times, citing a former intelligence official and another government official familiar with Panetta’s briefing to the House and Senate intelligence committees on 24 June.
Upon learning of the programme a day earlier from within the CIA, Panetta terminated it and called an emergency meeting with the committees the following day. He told them the programme had existed but had now been cancelled.
Which should underscore why Panetta is such a moron; he panicked when he found out about this program, which (again) did not have brief Congress until it was beyond the ‘developmental” stage.
Revelations about Cheney’s role in making decisions for the CIA on whether or not to notify Congress came as a surprise to some on the committees, said another government official who, like the other sources, spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to discuss the issue in public.
In other words, they knowingly leaked material on a classified program. Lovely. now, here’s the kicker:
The revelation about Cheney comes as the House of Representatives prepares to debate a bill that would require the White House to expand the number of members who are told about covert operations. The White House has threatened a veto over concerns that wider congressional notifications could compromise the secrecy of the operations.
You mean, like the Imbecile who “spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to discuss the issue in public.” Like that guy? I hate to tell you, Mister President, but you’ve already GOT that problem, buddy.
So let’s recap for a moment here, for the Pelosi’s amongsts us who lose track of things:
- It was a prototype program — which means it didn’t have to be told to Congress until it wa operational.
- Vice President Cheney knew that — and told the CIA so.
- Leon Panetta didn’t know that — even though he’s in charge of the CIA — and panicked.
- And apparently the White House has decided to throw Panetta to the wolves to take the heat off Pissant Pelosi.
The story really should be told here is that the Bush Administration had a nascent program to gain intelligence from terrorist states that worked (sometimes) — and that Panetta shut it down to provide cover for Pelosi‘s idiot ramblings.
Whole lotta Transparency goin’ on Here — that’s for sure.
Tell me again how Bush was worse? Tell me again how McCain would’ve been a disaster?
