Not that I’m a criminal myself, y’unnerstand, but after a lifetime of watching movies and TV I’ve learned one thing: If you’re going to commit a crime, it’s not a good idea to do it where the Police are.
VALPARAISO | A man pretended to be a Porter County Jail employee in an attempt to get inside the police/jail complex at 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, Porter County authorities said.
The man, Denny Collazo, 31, of Lake Station, has now been arrested twice on charges he trespassed on Porter County Sheriff’s Department property. Police said they issued Collazo a written trespass warning, which he first violated by showing up in December of 2008. He was arrested on a criminal trespass charge after that incident.
So he’s actually tried it THREE TIMES; One in which he was warned, and twice he was arrested. Sheesh!
Police said he returned Wednesday night and asked employees to let him inside. Police said he stated he was reporting for his “duties for third shift” inside the jail, and further stated his cousin had hired him and he needed to get inside for work. Police, however, confirmed he was the man who been issued a trespass warning and who had previously violated the order, so they again arrested him on a criminal trespass charge.
And then, just to add insult to injury . . .
Collazo’s vehicle, which was parked at a nearby business, was impounded.
Porter County sheriff’s Lt. Chris Eckert said it isn’t known why Collazo keeps returning to the police/jail complex despite having received a trespass warning.
Stupid is as Stupid does. There truly is no such thing as a “criminal genius.”
