Healthcare is a “Right”?
Yeah — Right.
Healthcare is a Product; a Service; a Consumer Product, like a car or an ice cream cone. And while I wouldn’t mind be forcd by the government to buy an ice cream cone once a year, it kind of goes against that whole “free enterprise” thing.
Free Enterprise isn’t “Free” unless you can choose to buy something; or not choose to buy something. Otherwise, there’s no freedom. So any attempt to force the American people to buy any product, whether it be Healtcare Insurance or even firearms is completely contrary to the Free Enterprise system.
And frankly there’s a lot better case to make it mandatory for everyone to own a firearm. The Second Amendment of the Constitution guarantees the right to keep and bear arms for every citizen. It’s not much of a stretch to mandate this right. Many countries mandate voting on election day constitutionally. Why not mandate the ownership of firearms?
Even Jesus did not argue against the right to self defense. When the Pharisees came to arrest Jesus, Peter drew his sword and defended himself. Jesus did not protest the defense; just that Peter was interfering in God’s will for Him in John 18:
10Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. (The servant’s name was Malchus.) 11Jesus commanded Peter, “Put your sword away! Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?”
See? But did Jesus heal everyone waiting at the Pool? No — he healed those who had faith in Him; not everyone indiscriminately. (See John 5; theParalytic at the Pool of Bethesda. Jesus healed the faithful paralytic; He did not heal everyone there at the pool.)
So there’s no inherent God-given “right to health”.
So I’ll Buy Into Government Mandated Healthcare When We All Have to Buy Guns, Too. Just the photo of Michael Moore and Nancy Pelosi packing a six-shooter or a Glock would be worth all the trouble.
