And you know, that’s NOTHING like good news to be compaed to the most incompetent, bumbling, bungling, naive President in history.
And we’re not talking bomb-throwing right-wing radicals here! No, no, no — it’s Mister Chris “Leg-tingle” Matthews talking here:
In the Carter presidency, the optics were not exactly robust, and Ronald Reagan rode that to a big victory in 1980. Is the Obama White House sending some Carteresque signals these days?
Eeeewww — I feel so dirty quoting Chris Matthews for anything.
And when Chris Matthews agrees with Newt Gingrich, that’s GOTTA be some kind of trouble:
There are many indications that the man in charge at the White House will take a tougher stance in the future. Obama’s advisors fear a comparison with former Democratic President Jimmy Carter, even more than with Bush. “Carter tried weakness and the world got tougher and tougher because the predators, the aggressors, the anti-Americans, the dictators, when they sense weakness, they all start pushing ahead,” Newt Gingrich, the former Republican speaker in the House of Representatives, recently said. And then he added: “This does look a lot like Jimmy Carter.”
Emphasis on “One-Term.”
