So I’m watching this Health Care Horror Show unfold before my very eyes, and I’m getting more and more frustrated with the smirks on the faces of our Idiot President and Joe “Smiley the Drunk” Biden (whose mama apparently never taught him not to say certain words in public).  And I’m watching the Interwebs and seeing that the Republicans – most notably my own Senator and Secretary of the Senate Republican Caucus John Cornyn – have gone all wobbly about whether they actually WANT to repeal the Obamacare Obamanation or not.

And they haven’t bothered to ask US if we want it repealed, have they?

Apparently, the Democraps aren’t the only ones having communication problems with their constituents.

And I keep thinking that both the Dems and the wobbly Republicans need to be shown who the heck is in charge here –meaning We, the People.

Something simple so that a maximum number of people could participate.  The big rallies we had last year were nice, but a LOT of people who wished they had gone now, I’m sure . . . didn’t get to attend.

And that may be a plus for our side. Keep this as simple as possible. Low-tech. Low-Key, but noticeable.  And these are my thoughts:

  • TAKE THE DAY OFF — APRIL 16th, 2010.  It would be great if we shut down the economy completely, but I seriously doubt that would happen. But you can take your kids out of school for a family trip. Take a Personal Day at work. Call in sick. Call in ugly, for that matter. Just make your absence noticeable.
  • Meet somewhere at noon local time to Pray.  If you can get to Washington, get to Washington. Clog the streets. Assemble (peacefully, mind you) outside the centers of power; Congress, Supreme Court, White House.  If you CAN’T get to Washington, go to your local state capitol.  If you can’t get there, meet at the flagpole at your post Office. It’s the “Flash Mob” theory; we appear, we pray, we leave.  No shouting, no violence, no demonstations; just here and gone.
  • Bring A Copy of the Constitution With You to the Flash Mob.  Democrat or Republican or Libertarian; if you’re NOT for the Constitution, you’re not really much of an American, are you?
  • Clog Up The System. Commit acts of Civil Disobedience all day long, and particularly from noon to 1:00 pm local time — i.e., “lunch hour.”  If you’re in town, drive 20 mph during that time. If you’re on the Interstate, drive 55 mph. Slow everything down to a slow crawl. Let the masses FEEL your displeasure.
  • Call Your Congressman and Senators all day long.   Flood their switchboards. Tell them (if they fought Obamacare, the Stimulus, et al.) that you support what they were doing. If they voted FOR obamacare, the Stimulus, etc., let them know how unhappy you are. Remind them they have to come back and LIVE in your district when you vote them out of Congress in November; and make sure you’re clear that you’re doing everything to make that happen.
  • Call Bart Stupak and His Friends and Let Them Know How you Feel. Eagle Scouts, Elks, Knights of Columbus, National Guard, the American Legion, Wildlife Unlimited, and your local parish priests. Tell them how Stupak sold out Unborn Life for a few airports in his district. Ask them if there’s any way he can be removed from those organizations. Excommunication should be a real, viable option here.
  • Money Bomb the Conservative Candidates. It doesn’t have to be much, but give five dollars, ten dollars; whatever you can afford to your local conservative candidate. Five bucks is less than what you’ll probably spend on beer this weekend, right?  If you’re happy with your candidates or don’t have an  election this year, give money to a good out-of-state candidate. Mario Rubio in Florida. Marlin Stutzman in Indiana. There’s a ton of them: find one and donate.

I’m open to suggestions; and any big organization that wants to take this and run with it, be my guest.

Post your suggestions and thoughts in the Comments Section. Let’s get this ball rolling.  This is not Me, per se; it’s WE, THE PEOPLE.

Get a Move on, cowboy.

Arkady at Right Condition Blog has an interesting essay on Shay’s Rebellion and lessons for today’s Big Government. A snippet:

Believe it or not there are two very important lessons we can learn today from a 1786 rebellion. For those not familiar, Shays’ rebellion took place in Massachusetts and involved Daniel Shays and hundreds of other poor farmers crushed by taxes and debt to launch a full scale rebellion.  However the story is not about citizens rioting because of injustices they felt were thrust upon them, but a state and federal government printing “money” to finance a war and ultimately failing to deliver the gold and silver promised to the holders of the printed “money”.

Alexander Hamilton wrote in Federalist #6:

“If Shays had not been a desperate debtor, it is much to be doubted whether Massachusetts would have been plunged into a civil war.”

Think how often a similar tactic has been employed recently using a very similar approach.

  • The Federal Reserve was created to prevent banking panics and preserve the dollar strength, even though the state and federal government encouraged regional banks to print money, create inflation and actually honored suspension of specie payment (paying out in gold/silver).
  • Social Security was created to handle people’s retirements, even though Hoover/FDR prolonged the Great Depression by destroying companies and private pensions with price fixing, crushing taxation and unprecedented federal intervention.
  • Congress wants to pass universal coverage because HMOs are too expensive and too many Americas are uninsured, even though Congress essentially created the HMOs while subsidizing their costs via federal tax credits to employers.

What is the second lesson you are wondering?  This is the very lesson that Hamilton never understood as can be demonstrated by his central bank, an institution he agitated for despite the objection of Madison and Jefferson.  Government cannot be allowed to print money.  It is really that simple.  Whether it was via the individual state banks during the colonial times or the “private” Federal Reserve, the result is always the same.  Printing money systematically bankrupts and impoverishes the citizenry allowing governments to spend with impunity.

Over two hundred years ago Daniel Shays and his neighbors felt the injustice and cruelty of a ruling class without truly understanding how he and others were being systematically plundered.  Not much has changed.

There’s much, much more of this very thoughtful essay at Right Condition Blog. You’ll wonder why you haven’t bookmarked it yet.

So who may b asking the really tough questions of President Obama about the costs of the Healthcare Bill?

The Red Chinese. No ,Really! Look Here:

Guess what? It turns out the Chinese are kind of curious about how President Barack Obama’s healthcare reform plans would impact America’s huge fiscal deficit. Government officials are using his Asian trip as an opportunity to ask the White House questions. Detailed questions.

Boilerplate assurances that America won’t default on its debt or inflate the shortfall away are apparently not cutting it. Nor should they, when one owns nearly $2 trillion in assets denominated in the currency of a country about to double its national debt over the next decade.

And again I have that curious feeling I woke up in a parallel world; where the Communist Chinese are more worried about American fiscal solvency than the President of the United States is.

Can I get a hearty “Oh, Crap!” on that?

Kind of makes you wonder about the Unemployment figures, if the Jobs Figures are wrong too, doesn’t it?

First, ABC News found the Obama Administration stripped 60,00 “saved” jobs that never happened:

The Obama administration, under fire for inflating job growth from the $787 billion stimulus plan, slashed over 60,000 jobs from its most recent report on the program because the reporting outlets had submitted “unrealistic data,” according to a document obtained by ABC News.

One recipient – Talladega County of Alabama – claimed that 5,000 jobs had been saved or created from only $42,000 in stimulus funds.

Some of the other recipients whose data was omitted included Belmont Metropolitan Housing Authority in Ohio that reported 16,120 jobs saved or created after receiving $1.3 million in stimulus funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Shelton State Community College in Alabama reported 14,500 jobs saved or created after receiving $27,000 from the General Accounting Office. And Alkan Builders of Alaska reported 3,000 jobs saved or created after receiving $11 million from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

What, do they just make up numbers out of thin air here? Apparently so; they’re even making up Congressional Districts out of whole cloth in Arizona:

Here’s a stimulus success story: In Arizona’s 15th congressional district, 30 jobs have been saved or created with just $761,420 in federal stimulus spending. At least that’s what the Web site set up by the Obama administration to track the $787 billion stimulus says.

There’s one problem, though: There is no 15th congressional district in Arizona; the state has only eight districts.

For example, the government’s Web site says $34 million in stimulus money has been spent in Arizona’s 86th congressional district in a project for the Navajo Housing authority, which is actually located in the 1st congressional district.

In another instance in Arizona, the Quechan Indians reported $59,414 in funding through the labor department for a “youth job training and employment” program (creating, they say, 7 jobs). But on recovery.gov, the information is entered as being in the 52nd Congressional District. It’s really in the 7th Congressional District.

In Oklahoma, recovery.gov lists more than $19 million in spending — and 15 jobs created — in yet more congressional districts that don’t exist.

In Iowa, it shows $10.6 million spent – and 39 jobs created — in nonexistent districts.

In Connecticut’s 42nd district (which also does not exist), the Web site claims 25 jobs created with zero stimulus dollars.

They can’t even keep track of their own lies anymore. And apparently they don’t even care to, if they don’t have somebody double-checking their data before releasing it.

And understandably, the Swedish are highly peed off at the U.S. right now.

What was all that campaign rhetoric about ‘building new international coalitions based on trust and respect” again?
saab-9-3-sportcombi-2008-1-big

The Swedish government said on Wednesday it would not intervene to take over Saab. Enterprise Minister Maud Olofsson slammed Saab’s US owner General Motors for “abandoning” the struggling Swedish car maker.

General Motors has warned that the unit would go under without official help.

Her comment came after GM late Tuesday presented a massive restructuring plan to the US Treasury and said its troubled Saab unit could file for bankruptcy protection “as early as this month” without support from the Swedish government.

The company said last year it planned to try to find a buyer for the brand.

So, they lied about that; alternately, they were too incompetent to find such a buyer. Take your pick.

SwedishChefSmall“They’re basically saying they think the Swedish government should take over Saab, but if we do that we’re talking about an incredible amount of money,” Olofsson said

The hilarious part of this is that Sweden already has Nationalized Health Care; and THEY think it’s “too much money” ??? Heh.

“I’m disappointed in General Motors, because they’re abandoning Saab and are pushing the responsibility over to Swedish tax payers, and I think that is irresponsible,” she said.

While Sweden’s centre-right government has refused to take over Saab it has nonetheless said it will act as a guarantor for a European Investment Bank (EIB) loan of five billion kronor (450 million euros, 566 million dollars) to help keep car maker afloat.

According to the unions, some 15,000 jobs in Sweden would be at risk if the unit were to disappear, since its suppliers would also be hard-hit.

And that last line is misleading. I’s not that 15,000 jobs in Sweden would be at risk; It’s that 15,000 jobs in Sweden ARE at risk, and will probably soon disappear. For Sweden’s economy that would be catastrophic.

And what do you think the EU will do if one of their economic partner’s economies is hit hard by Saab’s collapse?

Watching closely.

PLEASE TELL ME WHETHER YOU HAVE A FAVORABLE OR UNFAVORABLE OPINION OF EACH OF THE FOLLOWING. IF YOU HAVE NO OPINION OR HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THE PERSON, JUST SAY SO.

Candidate FAVORABLE / UNFAVORABLE

“DOUG HOFFMAN” 30.3% / 13.7

“DEDE SCOZZAFAVA” 24.0% / 28.3

Hoffman has the Highest Favorable and Lowest Unfavorable ratings; Scozzafava has the Highest Unfavorable rating.

IF THE SPECIAL ELECTION FOR U.S. CONGRESS WAS HELD TODAY, AND THE CANDIDATES WERE BILL OWENS, THE DEMOCRAT, DEDE SCOZZAFAVA, THE REPUBLICAN, AND DOUG HOFFMAN, THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY CANDIDATE, FOR WHOM WOULD YOU VOTE?

31.3% COMBO HOFFMAN

22.0% UNDECIDED

19.7% COMBO SCOZZAFAVA
18.0% Vote Scozzafava
1.7% Lean Scozzafava

scozzafava newserThis is bad news for Scozzafava; she’s running in fourth place in a three-person race. It also turns the results of last week’s Siena Poll on it’s head, signaling a Quantum shift away from the traditional Party candidates towards Conservatism. Tea Parties, anyone?

BETWEEN BILL OWENS, DEDE SCOZZAFAVA, AND DOUG HOFFMAN, WHO WOULD YOU SAY WOULD DO THE BEST JOB IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:?

“CREATING JOBS”

26.7% OWENS
23.7% HOFFMAN
14.0% SCOZZAFAVA
5.7% NONE
1.3% ALL
28.7% Don’t Know/REFUSED

“REDUCING WASHINGTON SPENDING”

30.3% HOFFMAN
17.7% OWENS
13.3% SCOZZAFAVA
8.3% NONE
3.0% ALL
27.3% DK/REFUSED

Hoffman leads Scozzafava in both questions, and trails Owens (D) only in Jobs creation. Yet Hoffman leads all the favorability and voting polls.

Very interesting indeed.  Siena University is planning a follow-up poll later this week; it will be inteeresting to see if they find the same results.  I’ll certainly be watching.

Well, this is what happens when amateurs try to put together business deals. And by “Business Deals” I mean the wholesale multi-million dollar dismemberment of multi-national corporations.

And by “amateurs” I mean complete imbeciles who have never had an actual jobs outside of government,” Like happened here with Penske, and apparently is happening now again with Opel:

we-hope-gm-hasnt-hit-the-mother-of-all-icebergs_100182263_sGeneral Motors Co., looking to finalize the sale of its Opel unit to Magna International Inc. as soon as midweek, may need to revisit the bidding process that led to the sale of its German unit after the European Union raised fresh concerns about that process, according to people familiar with the matter.

GM Chief Executive Frederick “Fritz” Henderson had hoped to sign the Magna deal last week, but regulatory issues have postponed the move.  His plan for Opel—which met strong scrutiny from GM’s new board—was thrown into question late last week after the EU’s competition commissioner, Neelie Kroes, sent a letter to German Economics Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg saying GM “should have the opportunity to reconsider the bidding process.”

Mrs. Kroes pointed to “significant indications” that Germany had made €4.5 billion ($6.72 billion) in state aid for Opel contingent on Magna winning the bid, therefore violating EU state aid and market rules. EU rules restrict how governments can dole out aid, to prevent states from giving an unfair boost to one company over another in Europe’s common market. As competition commissioner, Mrs. Kroes must sign off on state-aid deals.

In short, according to international law, competitive bidding means one country can’t favor their won contries industries if the bids are to be competitive. Chancellor Merkel specified that Magna Industries — a German Company — had to win the contract. That’s illegal — yet the Obama Administration had no problem with that.

merkel-angelaBerlin also opposed the idea of GM keeping and revamping Opel itself, one option GM’s board also considered. Under the preliminary agreement that GM reached with Magna last month, the Canadian auto-parts maker and its partners would acquire a 55% stake in Opel and its U.K.-based sister company Vauxhall. Opel employees would hold 10%, while GM would retain the remaining 35%.

“Employees” being the code-word for “Unions” here — just like it worked in the U.S. GM bankruptcy, too.

If GM were to consider another plan for Opel, German Chancellor Angela Merkel could then find herself in the awkward position of financing an outcome that slashed far more Opel jobs in Germany and shuttered some of its plants. Ms. Merkel and her conservative allies are eager to preserve the Magna deal ahead of critical regional elections next May in North Rhine-Westphalia.

GM’s go-it-alone Plan B would likely include thousands of more job cuts, and at least one plant closure or sale in Germany, say people familiar with the matter.

Makes you wonder what else was in the GM/Chrysler bankruptcies we haven’t even seen yet.

Imbeciles. no, no , worse than imbeciles — criminals.
