Phyllis Schafly has a dynamite column today that gives me mew hope in defeating the insanity that is Obamacare.  Here’s her abbreviated list of things we can use to fight this monstrosity:

1. The American people oppose Obamacare by almost 2 to 1 in the latest CNN poll.

2. The Democrats’ double-counting of Obamacare’s financial benefits has been exposed as a colossal lie.

3. Obamacare is unconstitutional because of its mandate that all individuals must carry “approved” health insurance.

4. Since the Senate bill imposes sharp limits on health-insurance companies’ ability to raise fees or exclude coverage, it likely will force many of them out of business.
5. Other Obamacare provisions blatantly legislate racial and other forms of discrimination.

6. Universal health insurance will be achieved by forcing young people to pay the additional costs (insurance for the youngest third of the population would rise by 35 percent), and by restricting and rationing care for the elderly.

7. Obama’s refusal to close our borders will make this “wild card of immigration” more costly every year.

8. Obamacare gives Medicare bureaucrats the power to ration health care;  In the recent case of Hays v. Sebelius, the court ruled that Medicare doesn’t have the right to make this rule,.

9. The Senate bill contains at least a dozen of what can be described as bribes to certain senators.

10. The Senate bill even has a four-page section artfully written to enable ACORN to get federal health-care grants.

There’s a much more detailed article HERE, which you really need to read and pass along. Great stuff for an 85-year-old, eh?

Robert Moon at The Houston Examiner gives us the “Top 5 signs Obama’s policies don’t work”:

5) After seven years straight without a single terrorist attack on American soil, it is only since Obama took office and began “healing the rifts” between Islam and the West that we have been repeatedly attacked.

4) As even the Washington Post confirms, the only times we have actually acquired useful intelligence from a terrorist are when we have abandoned the Obama approach and resorted to college hazing rituals like water-boarding.

3) As I have noted, both Iran and North Korea are far more dangerous and defiant now under Obama than they have ever been under previous administrations.

2) Obama’s insistence on misapplying the constitutional rights of U.S. citizens to foreign terrorists at war with this country mirrors the disastrous ACLU approach that got us attacked on 9/11 and can only lead to more al Qaida operatives being released.

1) Obama’s refusal to profile those who have committed virtually 100% of the attacks on our airlines (young, Arab, Muslim men) continues to keep us from preventing attacks (9/11, Fort Hood, Detroit, etc.).

Exactly right. A bully senses the weakness of the smaller kids on the playground and picks on the smallest and weakest. Today the United States of America is the skinny kid of international deplomacy who coughs up his lunch money without so much as an “I’m telling!” in reply.

Oh yeah.  This is most certainly “Change” we can believe in.  Thanks Oprah.

Question: how long will a bull-headed imbecile continue to push against Public Opinion, attempting to Ram through a Health Care Bill that nobody wants?

Answer: Heck if I know, but he shows no sign of slowing down yet!

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that only 27% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-two percent (42%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -15. This is the lowest Approval Index rating yet measured for President Obama (see trends).

Fifty-two percent (52%) of Democrats Strongly Approve while 68% of Republicans Strongly Disapprove. Among those not affiliated with either major political party, just 16% Strongly Approve and 51% Strongly Disapprove (see other recent demographic highlights from the tracking poll).

So, while he still retains Democrat support (and just barely, by 52%), he has comletely lost both Republicans — and Independents as well.

Losing that Independent support will be Disastrous in the mid-term elections.

Pass the Bill, Pass the Bill,
Pass the Bill,onward,
In the well of the House Floor
Rode the Dem Stalwarts.
“Forward, Obama’s  Brigade!
“Charge the neo-Cons!” he said:
As they trashed Public Opinion
Rode the Dem Stalwarts.

“Forward, Obama’s  Brigade!”
Was there a man dismay’d?
Not tho’ the soldier knew
Lord Obama had blunder’d:
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Universal Coverage till you die:
On to the Senate Floor
Rode the Dem Stalwarts.

Neo-Cons to right of them,
Libertarians to left of them,
Independents in front of them
Volley’d and thunder’d;
Storm’d at by Fox news’ belles,
Boldly they spoke their shills,
Onto the Senate Floor,
Dashing hopes of second terms
Rode the Dem Stalwarts.

Sorry, I couldn’t resist. Apologies to the estate of Lord Tennyson.

My buddy Marcus Wilder (also on Twitter as @NaiveAbroad) got this letter from Barack Obama’s Organizing For America beggng for money to fight Sarah Palin’s “lies”.

Here’s the text of the entire letter:

Marcus —

Right now, Sarah Palin is on a highly publicized, nationwide book tour, attacking President Obama and his plan for health reform at every turn.

It’s dangerous. Remember, this is the person who coined the term “Death Panels” — and opened the flood gates for months of false attacks by special interests and partisan extremists.

What’s dangerous? Criticizing a sitting president? Nobody thought so when George Bush was President and called him “Chimpy McBush-Hitler”, did they? Or is it just Free Speech that’s “dangerous”?

Whatever lie comes next will be widely covered by the media, then constantly echoed by right-wing attack groups and others who are trying to defeat reform.

Yes, yes — everything about Obama is a lie. He’s pure as the virgin snow and farts sanitary deodorizer while riding his unicorn to work.

As we approach the final sprint on health reform, we can’t afford more deception and delay. We need to be ready for anything — and have the resources to respond with ads, events, and calls to Congress when the attacks come.

If we can’t afford more deception, perhaps you guys should quit putting out so much of it, ya think?

So we’re setting a big goal: $500,000 in the next week to help push back against Sarah Palin and her allies. Please chip in $5 or more to help reach our goal.

No Thank you!

Earlier this month, Palin publicly said that she hopes health reform will be “dead on arrival.” And since then, she’s been working fiercely toward that goal. On Tuesday, Palin went on Rush Limbaugh’s radio show where she outrageously — and falsely — suggested that Americans could “face jail time as punishment” if they don’t buy insurance.

Here’s a news flash for you; It’s not only in the both the house and Seante bills, but Nancy Pelosi thinks jail time for failing to buy Health Insurance is a “good idea”:

Plus President Narcissist recently told ABC News’ Jake Tapper that he shares Pelosi’s belief that jail time is an appropriate punishment for not buying health insurance.

Palin has many more interviews scheduled on Hannity and other conservative shows in the next few weeks, with more platforms to go after the President. As soon as she does, the rest of our opponents will likely parrot those attacks. We need to be prepared. And we’re counting on you help. Can you chip in $5 or more?

Mitch Stewart
Organizing for America

So what conclusions can we draw from this letter?

  1. THE FACTS DON’T MATTER. They don’t care that you already KNOW there will be jail time for failing to buy Health Insurance.
  2. THEY THINK YOU’RE STUPID.  They assume you’re too stupid to do your own fact-checking — like I just did with Pelosi’s YouTube video.
  3. THEY’RE RUNNING OUT OF MONEY.  If they’re soliciting for funds, they’re low on money.  It’s easy to prove fraud if they’re soliciting for funds and already have money — so very likely they’re running low.

All of which is good news for Conservatives. They’re not very bright; and they’re blowing through money.

Call me juvenile, but I think President narcissist is even more so. You tell a kid not to do something, and they HAVE to do it. Apparently that’s Obama’s strategy in touching the third rail of Social Security:

aunt beaWASHINGTON – There will be no cost of living increase for more than 50 million Social Security recipients next year, the first year without a raise since automatic adjustments were adopted in 1975.

Blame falling consumer prices. By law, cost of living adjustments are pegged to inflation, which is negative this year, the government said Thursday, because of lower energy costs. Social Security payments do not go down, even when prices drop.

The Obama administration, meanwhile, is pursuing a different way to boost recipients’ income. On Wednesday, President Barack Obama called for a second round of $250 stimulus payments for seniors, veterans, retired railroad workers and people with disabilities.

obama.joker.2.betterThe payments would match the ones issued to seniors earlier this year as part of the government’s economic recovery package. The payments would be equal to about a 2 percent increase for the average Social Security recipient.

Social Security payments increased by 5.8 percent in January, the largest bump up since 1982. The big increase was largely because of a spike in energy costs in 2008.

“Social Security is doing its job helping Americans maintain their standard of living,” said Social Security Commissioner Michael J. Astrue.

But, he added, “In light of the human need, we need to support President Obama’s call for us to make another $250 recovery payment for 57 million Americans.”

Notice how nobody will say in this article who, exactly, made the decision to forgo the “automatic increases” to Social security payments this year. They blame the falling economy.  But Obama is all over that $250 payment “bonus”, isn’t he?

And apparently it’s okay to tell Social Security recipients the economy is falling, but tell the unemployed that the recover has begun? Meanwhile, AARP is stunningly silent . . .

When does shameless lying become pathological lying?

Honestly, I’m surprised the imbeciles at DHS took this long to get around to harassing Sheriff Joe:

sheriff joe azArizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio says he will continue his controversial “crime suppression operations” despite a Department of Homeland Security decision to strip him of authority to arrest suspected illegal immigrants based solely on their immigration status, the East Valley Tribune reports.

“It’s all politics,” says Arpaio, sheriff of Maricopa County.

Arpaio will still have the power to check the immigration status of people booked by his officers, but not the authority to conduct street patrols looking for illegal immigrants.  His “crime suppression operations” are saturation patrols in designated areas where deputies would find illegal immigrants by stopping them for traffic infractions and minor violations, the paper says.

The department of Justice and other federal agencies are investigating the sheriff’s office on accusations of racial profiling during the operations, the paper says.

Arpaio said he will be able to still conduct the crime sweeps under state human smuggling laws and an obscure federal law that allows local police to arrest illegal immigrants.

A spokesman for the Phoenix office of ICE declined to comment until after pending agreements with the country are signed.

KeystoneKopsLike we weren’t expecting this. DHS is unwilling and unable to police the borders; so let’s clamp down on the one incorruptible sheriff that is willing and able to do our jobs for us.

Next I fully expect that DHS will try and arrest Sheriff Joe for violating some bizarre, arcane micro-infraction of DHS Federal code; not that this will slow down or intimidate Sheriff Joe, of course.  But what the HECK are those “pending agreements with the country” waiting to be signed?

Almost — I say, ALMOST makes me want to move to Arizona — If I didn’t already live in God’s country of South Texas.

This Guest Post is from Jay Goode at North Texas Conservative:

British Petroleum Deserves To Be Boycotted

British Petroleum (BP) needed a deal with Libya to recover oil and gas.

Libyan dictator Colonel Muammar Gadaffi wanted to get his terrorist friend back home.

Scottish officials announced that they would release Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi, the Lockerbie bomber, for compassionate reasons.  Al-Megrahi reportedly has terminal cancer.   OUTRAGEOUS!

Boycott British Petroleum

The so-called Lockerbie Bomber killed more than 200 innocent people.  He did not deserve compassionate release.   But the Bloody British needed oil and British Petroleum needed a deal.

Boycott British Petroleum

Al-Megrahi returned home.  He was welcomed home like a hero.  He served just 11 days of a life-time sentence for killing each victim!

British Petroleum got their deal.   BP’s gasoline will flood into American service stations.  Consumers will buy it, and everybody is happy.  Right?  WRONG!

Boycott British Petroleum

Less than a week after the release, the Times of London released it’s bombshell on Sunday.

“The British government decided it was ‘in the overwhelming interests of the United Kingdom’ to make Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi, the Lockerbie bomber, eligible for return to Libya, leaked ministerial letters reveal.”

In their best interest?   That is an outrage!

“Gordon Brown’s government made the de-cision after discussions between Libya and BP over a multi-million-pound oil ex-ploration deal had hit difficulties. These were resolved soon afterwards.

“The letters were sent two years ago by Jack Straw, the justice secretary, to Kenny MacAskill, his counterpart in Scotland, who has been widely criticised for taking the formal decision to permit Megrahi’s release,” the Times reported

Then the Times concluded:

“The correspondence makes it plain that the key decision to include Megrahi in a deal with Libya to allow prisoners to return home was, in fact, taken in London for British national interests.”

No one included the families of the 200 victims in the negotiations.

Boycott British Petroleum

Then the British news service Reuters jumped in.  LINK

This is a crisis for Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s government.  Fox News analyst called it Brown’s Watergate.

Boycott British Petroleum

Did the British consult with the Obama Regime about the deal?   The British and Obama’s press secretary Robert Gibbs  denied they talked about it.  However, some people don’t believe it.  Check this YouTube replay of the Morning Joe news program.

No one is believing that Obama didn’t know that the British would release the Lockerbie bomber.

No one believes that the British released the Lockerbie Bomber for compassionate reasons either!

Hear, hear!

Glenn Beck on his radio program tipped me off to THIS today:

DC CaresPresident Barack Obama has declared that September, 11, 2009, the eighth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, will mark the first 9/11 National Day of Service, and Greater DC Cares has responded by organizing a large number of volunteer and service opportunities for Washington area residents. Individuals and teams may both sign up online to serve on projects ranging from spending time with seniors to cleaning up Hains Point to preparing meals for the chronically ill. A $25 per person registration fee covers the costs of the event in addition to helping fund Greater DC Cares all year. Registration is open now through Tuesday, September 8.

Say what now?

HERE’s what Webster’s has to say about “involuntary service”:

  1. : to force to do hard, menial, or monotonous work
  2. : submission to a dominating influence
  3. : the state of a person who is a chattel of another

Oddly enough, I think all of those definitions apply. Liberals think we’re not smart enough to know what’s good for us, so they propose laws that mandate certain behaviors from the public. (definition 3) They elect a smooth-talking President (definition 2) who works with the brow-beaters in Congress to (also definition 2) who try to use Political Correctness to intimidate us into doing what we don’t want to do.

And from that we get things like “the first 9/11 National Day of Service” (definition 1); where not only are we going to perform involuntary “community service” and we have to pay $25.00 to do it.

obama angry fingerWhat IS it with this guy and our money? Cheese Louise!

Oh, and those definitions from Websters?  They’re all definitions of Slavery; or the state of being a slave.  Involuntary servitude.

Barack Obama; first black President of the United States, who returned the country to Slavery.  The irony is palpable.

And I haven’t even addressed the idea whether this is actually an appropriate action to commemorate the 9-11 attacks.  A memorial service to remember the innocents who died.  But if I recall correctly (and I *do*, Thank you) the whole reasons America was attacked was because of the “arrogance” and “imperialism” of America.  Because America “takes from the world and doesn’t give anything back.”

That kind of crap.

A “National Day of Service” seems more oriented towards somebody trying to reform the arrogant imperialists, than remember the innocent to me.

But that’s just me.  I’ll be putting flags on the military cemetery headstones on 9/11 myself.

harry_louise_imageDuring the latest attempt by the government to take over healthcare for all Americans, my wife and I have been particularly offended by the self-righteous tone invoked by both (a) our “Dear Leader” President O’Bumble, and (b) the obnoxious self-congratulatory “Harry and Louise” redux ads. The smug, self-righteous actors seem very pleased at the imminent crushing tax burden nationalized health care will bring on, and have a litany of complaints against the current Health Care system.

As my wife put it last night, “Why not just fix what’s borken and leave the rest alone?” Oddly, she’s the only one I hear voicing this message. You’d think the Republicans would make it not only a talking point, but a thrust against the Obama nationalization plan.

Well this morning Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal NAILS IT but good in the Wall Street Journal:

  • Pooling for small businesses, the self-employed, and others. All consumers should have equal opportunity to buy the lowest-cost, highest-quality insurance available. Individuals should benefit from the economies of scale currently available to those working for large employers. They should be free to purchase their health coverage without tax penalty through their employer, church, union, etc.
  • bobby jindal familyPay for performance, not activity. Roughly 75% of health-care spending is for the care of chronic conditions such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes—and there is little coordination of this care. We can save money and improve outcomes by using integrated networks of care with rigorous, transparent outcome measures emphasizing prevention and disease management.
  • Refundable tax credits. Low-income working Americans without health insurance should get help in buying private coverage through a refundable tax credit. This is preferable to building a separate, government-run health-care plan.

These steps would bring down health-care costs. They would not bankrupt our nation or increase taxes in the midst of a recession. They are achievable reforms with bipartisan consensus and public support. All they require is a willingness by the president to slow down and have an honest discussion with Americans about the real downstream consequences of his ideas.

E-mail this to your Senator or representative today. This should be Key in the push to Reform Health Care; not trying to re-invent a new wheel.

I’ve been watching the debate over socialized, government run and paid for Health Care with a great deal of interest.  This is not the first time the government has talked about nationalizing Health care, and after the massive changes that were made in anticipation of HillaryCare . . . well, that’s something I’m not looking forward to doing again.

I’m noticing, though, that as a Healthcare worker and the former proprietor of my own business, there are a few items that don’t seem to make it into the refular news about the Healthcare Plan the government is pushing.

So let’s talk about those for a second, shall we?

1. Seventy Percent (70%) of any business is personnel costs. When the Obama Administration wants to “cut healthcare costs”, they want to cut the salaries of every Physician, Nurse, and Nurse’s aide.  Most people think we make pretty good money, so giving healthcare workers a pay cut isn’t a big deal, right?

Unfortunately, it is.  As an LVN nurse I make less than a McDonald’s assistant manager.  An RN nurse makes significantly less than a McDonald’s manager.  Nurse”s Aide’s are paid less than bus drivers — about 2/3rds of a bus driver’s salary, in fact.  While physicians make more, they also pay outrageous rates for malpractice insurance. One obstetrician I knew paid over $125,000 a year for malpractice insurance — and that was 20 years ago.

In fact, malpractice is one of the driving costs of health care — but more on that in a bit.  Suffice it to say doctor’s are not paid nearly as well as you think they are, after student loans and malpractice insurance.

And most healthcare workers I know haven’t had any raises in 6 years or more.  Doesn’t look like they’re likely soon, either, at this rate.

2. Medicare is not just an EXAMPLE of Socialized Health care; it sets the standard.
You want to know what Socialized (or “Single-Payer” as they’re calling it) health care will be like?  I guarantee it won’t be any better than Medicare is now.  How could it be — that’s the only working model the federal government has, besides the Veterans Administration.

And if you think your ‘Single-Payer” Health Care Plan is going to be any better than Medicare or the VA, you’ve got another think coming, brother.

And while President Obama is promising to pay for this plan with “savings”, there just aren’t enough savins to fund the plan anymore.  Let

s take dialysis, because I’m a dialysis nurse.  Medicare pays $660 for a dialysis treatment.   Private insurance pays more than that, but only for 6 months – after that they can legally drop you.  Medicatre pays for treatments after six months, and pays for better than 95% of all dialysis in the USA.

How much does it actually cost for a dialysis treatment? It costs about $200.00 to set up a dialysis machine; the tubing costs $125.00 approximately, and the dialyzer (the artificial kidney) costs a minimuj of $50-$75.  The personnel cost for a 4 hour treatmentplus 1 hour setup and breakdown/cleaning time  (for a mandated 2 nurses) is another $300.  Costs of the facility  (water purification, rent, heating/cooling, medical supplies) are around another $150.00.

That’s a total of approximately $650.00 — and Medicare only pays $660 for a dialysis treatment, remember?

Now, there’s a problem: when you pump someone’s blood out of their body, it tends to want to clot up.  About one treatment in 20 does that — that means another $200.00 to re-string and set up the machine again.  Does Medicare pay for that?  No,no they don’t.

So where does that money come from?

From cutting corners.  No one wants to do it, but you have to in order to keep the hospital in business.  Sometimes there’s not two nurse’s available.  Sometimes you split a package of gauze sponges between two patients.  Sometimes the patient doesn’t need two liters of saline; only one.

Is that safe?  Usually, yes.  Nobody wants to lose their license; believe me.

But do youwant to be the patient they cut services on?

3. The next time you see some ‘Professor of Medicine” talking head on the news talking about how great One-Payer will be, just tune him right out.  He Has No Clue how it is now!

For one thing,I personally carry a copy of the Texas Department of Health regulation on dialysis.  I would carry a copy of the Medicare regulations too, but they’re too large to fit on a Blackberry, and they constantly change. We are in almost constant violation of one regulation or another – because the rules change constantly, and it’s impossible to keep up.

For another, in excess of 60-70% of your healthcare dollar is spent on the last six months of life or on people with disabilities. (In the elderly we call this the “million-dollar workup” – accomplishes nothing other than covering the doctor’s and hospital’s liability.  Without Tort reform, costs will continue to spiral as liability insurance continues to increase. There is no damned reason in the world that any physician or healthcare worker found guilty of negligence or malpractice should pay anything other than (a) medical costs for the patient until they are healed, however long that takes – or (b) a standard amount for damages (say $200,000 or so.)  These multi-million dollar damages for medical malpractice are not in any way fair compensation — they’re legalized revenge against people with more money than the victims.

4. Peter Orsazg – Abortion funding is “something we’re open to.” and “we can’t rule it out.”

This will not be about Healthcare.  It will be about Politically correct medicine. Forced Cholesterol Control.  Forced weight loss.  Forced Tobacco Cessation.  Abortion on demand.  I can’t wait until somebody decides nose-picking causes sinus damages, and we outlaw that, too.  Drinking while pregnant will no longer be socially unacceptable; it will be a felony.

5. My buddy Marcus Wilder (Twitter’s @NaiveAbroad), who sold insurance for many years, has noted that “there is no such thing as Health ‘Insurance’”. Car, Auto, and Life Insurance is where they collect money and establish a Reserve of cash to pay out claims. Premiums are designed to cover the estimated costs in a year’s time, and to add  samll amount to replenish the reserves for inflation and unanticipated losses.

In Health Care it;s completely different.  Health ‘Insurance’ is actually cash flow management, where the monies coming in are always (hopefully) equal to the monies going out.  In many ways the same thing as Social Security; sort of a legalized Ponzi Scheme.

Think Bernie Madoff in Senator’s clothing.  Or, rather, think of it in real world terms; do you want Al Franken in charge of whether you get well or not?

Is he smart enough?

Is he good enough?

Does anyone actually like him?

Don’t forget — this is the guy who debated an episode of Perry Mason with the supreme Court nominee during the confirmation hearings.

So despite the facts that:

  • The Health Care Reform will be presided over by failed comedians, unindicted co-conspirators, politically correct thugs, and was designed by a guy who left his secretary to drown;
  • There are only two ways to cut costs in Health insurance: cut personnel (as I mentioned before) or cut services;
  • They will never be able to provide all things to all people as the Obama Administration is promising without denying something to someone else;
  • The best attempts the government has made previously at Health Care resulted in Medicare and the Veterans Administration, and
  • There is no guarantee to control the real driving cost of health care, which is malpractice insurance (which is driven by Tort costs)

. . . the Obama administration isstill hell-bent for leather to drive the nationalization of 17% of our national economy anyway.

I do not think it is an understatement — and i base this on man, many conversations with other nurses and doctors — that a lot of us — a lot of us — will get out of healthcare and do something else rather than work for this monstrosity.

If you’ve always wondered why people dislike alleged Senator Barbara Boxer (D-Kalifornication), this little clip is all you need to see. It’s six minutes, but it goes fast, and well worth watching the entire thing:

Boxer spends her time lecturing the President of the Chamber of Commerce and tries to beat him over the head with studies and resolutions from black organizations that oppose his point of view. Mr. Alford responds with all the right questions, which Senator Dumbass Boxer keeps butting into with “Can I clarify? Can I clarify?”

Later Sen Inhofe of OK shoots Boxer down by entering the NAACP resolution, which does not indorse their own letter to Congress.

Two of the sources with the best track records I know are both saying the same thing. The Obama Administration and their minions are beginning a multi-phase attack on Talk Radio; both to bolster their supporters and to negate their detractors.

Dick Morris at Dick Morris.com writes:

Obama’s liberal philosophy dictates that when the news is bad, shoot the messenger. The newest data from Arbitron, the company charged with measuring the size of radio audiences, suggests that listenership to hip hop, inner city, and minority radio has been overstated in the past and that the popularity of conservative talk radio has been under-reported.

The opening barrage in Obama’s efforts to reign in talk radio was fired by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) this week when its acting Chairman Michael J. Copps announced an investigation of Arbitron’s radio measuring technology called the Portable People Meter. (Not to be confused with the Purple People Eater celebrated in song in the 1950s).

Brian Maloney at The Radio Equalizer equates The obama Administrations coming “War on Limbaugh” with Hugo Chavez’s destruction of Venezuela’s media:

Here’s their blueprint:

It begins with refusing to call on reporters from unfriendly networks during White House press conferences and then to creating faux “news” agencies to cover the Dear Leader glowingly.

From there, dreaded license procedures are changed to force stations into a mere three-year renewal cycle, subject to the whims of Obama’s installed agents at the FCC:

Continuing their campaign of destruction, the new electronic ratings system that provides an accurate assessment of conservative talk radio’s huge ratings is dismantled.

Next, once the licenses of talk outlets have been cancelled, making their stations nearly worthless as a result, pro-Obamist firms are cleared to purchase them with taxpayer funds through targeted “bailouts”.

While a bit long and detailed, Maloney’s Equalizer report is chilling in it’s simplicity and clarity.

Something else you really need to read.

Cathy Buckle is a friend of mine, although we’ve never met.

Cathy is one of the displaced farmers of Zimbabwe, forced off their land by the socialist (Nay, dare I say it? “Communist!”) Robert Mugabe, who was put into power by the direct meddling of Jimmy Carter’s ‘White Guilt” based foreign policy.

Cathy sends these e-mails a couple of times a month, letting us on the outside know how things are going (and deteriorating). This is “Wealth Re-Distribution” in action, at it’s worst and most gluttonous. A cautionary tale of where of Beloved Leader wants us to be, although he won’t say so.  A new government reigns there now, and 100 days into the new administration, nothing has changed.

Ringing any bells?

In Cathy’s country she lives in fear of her life every day for letting us know this. Let us hope that is also not in our future . . . although some of my recent blog posts might indicate otherwise.

Saturday 2nd May 2009

Dear Family and Friends,

This month’s municipal accounts are the first printed bills we’ve had from the local council for eight months. The accounts were hand delivered, door to door, post box to post box in residential suburbs. This, believe it or not, is cause for comment!

When a neighbour told me to look in my post box, I laughed and said that was a waste of time because nothing has gone into my home post box for nearly a year. The Post Office doesn’t deliver any letters anymore – who knows why. The bank’s have long since given up sending out statements to their customers and other street delivered items like electricity, telephone and municipal accounts have fallen by the wayside in Zimbabwe’s collapse. It’s been so long since anything’s gone into my post box that I had to use a stick to clear a way through the spiders webs and had to manoeuvre my hand carefully underneath a hanging hornets’ nest. There, lying in the dust and rust was my municipal bill. A couple of hornets flew out and the nest shivered in warning and alarm as I carefully lifted out the piece of paper. No envelope, not stapled closed, not even folded discreetly, the municipal bill may as well as have stayed where it was for the information it contained.

“All charges are in US Dollars and you are expected to pay on time to avoid inconveniences,” it said. The bill itemized municipal charges and included a Fire Levy. This was cause for much heated conversation in the street. “A Fire Levy,” people said, “for what?”. The last time a house burned down in our neighbourhood the fire engine didn’t come, apparently because it was picking up sick people.
Another item on the bill causing rage is that of Public Street Lighting. For three years the street lights in our neighbourhood haven’t worked so you can cross that charge off, everyone is saying. Then there’s the one that makes us all furious: Refuse Removal. It’s been over a year since our garbage has been collected. We burn what we can, because we have no choice, we bury what we can and we accumulate what’s left. Piles of trash lie under trees, on roadsides and dumped on any vacant piece of land.

ZIMBABWE AIDWater charges on the municipal account are cause for disgust and contempt by residents. As I write this letter we are going into our fourth day without water – not a drop anywhere in the whole town and none are spared, not schools, hospitals, old age homes, industry or residences. The absence of water for days at a time is just one of our nightmares and does not address the issue of raw sewage flowing into the dam our water is being drawn from. Not to mention the levy for the pipeline from the new dam that we’ve been paying for years and yet not a drop does it deliver, in fact the pipe is not yet even laid in the trench dug for it.

Needless to say, no one is paying the ludicrous amounts being charged by the municipality. Charges so high that they amount to three quarters of a civil servants entire monthly wage. Everyone is paying something but only a small token. We have been paying in US dollars for electricity, telephones and municipal services for three months and now its time to receive service.

The new sentiment sweeping over Zimbabwe, at all levels, is: You deliver, we pay. You fix, we pay. You maintain, we pay.

Until next time, thanks for reading, love cathy

Dear Family and Friends,

mimosa treeWinter is moving into Zimbabwe and even though the days are shorter, the wind cooler and the temperatures dropping, it is a beautiful time of year. The grass is tall and gold, the cassia and mimosa trees are covered in yellow flowers and the aloes are promising a spectacular display in the weeks to come: their spikes a mass of blooms waiting to open. On the roadsides the white poinsettias are covered in flowers, the Munondo trees are crowned with chocolate pods and in the vleis and wetlands the red hot pokers are a sight to behold.

As our growing season comes to an end and after the good rainy season we’ve had this year, I’d like to be able to tell you that out here in the country areas there is a great bustle of harvesting underway. Sadly that is not the case this May 2009. Roads out of once busy commercial farming areas are stagnantly quiet. All season many of our farms have lain fallow because of no seed, no fertilizer or quite simply no interest from the people who took them over. Zimbabweans travelling east, west, north and south can testify to seeing this same picture of empty fields in all directions.

Thankfully in urban areas the small roadside, suburban plantings (similar to allotments) of maize, beans and sunflowers have done quite well. Maize cobs are lying out to dry on verandahs and roofs in urban areas and this has become a common sight; it is a graphic demonstration of how hunger has infiltrated right into our cities, towns and urban neighbourhoods. This rooftop food is how Zimbabwe’s teachers, nurses and civil servants are going to survive the months ahead – on what they’ve grown on the side of the road.

zimbabwe tsvangirai microphoneWe are reminded this week that the MDC have been participating in Zimbabwe’s power sharing unity government for a hundred days. Most days its been very hard for ordinary people to see the power sharing as it has had so little effect on our daily lives. Criminals still walk free on our streets; political prisoners are still juggled in and out of detention; chaos continues on farms; water and electricity supplies are pathetic and an undoubtedly fierce battle for real power rages just out of view.

Most people are saying that 100 days is long enough, the honeymoon is over and its time to get down to business. No more delays, stalling, empty ultimatums and promises. We want to see action from this enormous government that we have, real action that will improve our lives and lift us out of the filth and despair that we’ve tolerated for the last decade.

I agree. One hundred days is long enough, the honeymoon is over and its time to get down to business. No more delays, stalling, empty ultimatums and promises. I agree completely.

An excellent article from Canada Free Press (which one liberal commenter here has decried as “right-wing drivel,” so you know it really must be getting under their skin!) that gives an outsiders view of just how much President Obama must hate America:

obama-crapAs Ed Lasky writes: “We know that during the campaign [Obama] warned that criticism of his wife was `off-limits’. But criticism of America – well, that is fine.”

We also know that during his run for the presidency, Obama expressed sneering condescension towards all those bible-clasping, gun-owning yahoos who “cling” to those silly things, and that in Europe he consistently gave voice to America’s supposed “sins.” But all that pales in comparison to the clear contempt – looks more like hatred to me – that Obama feels for the United States of America and for its most revered founding document, the U.S. Constitution.

In just the first 100-days of his tenure, Obama’s words and actions have demonstrated that he is no friend of the country he leads. This is only a smattering of what happened on his recent three-continent trip abroad and to Mexico:

* In France, Obama told his audience that America “has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive” toward Europe.
* In Prague, Obama – in true utopian-kindergarten fashion – pledged “with conviction” that America will “seek the peace and security of a world without nuclear weapons.” In other words, destroy big bad America’s ability to defend itself!
* In London, Obama made clear that the world’s financial wealth was no longer made by those inferior leaders Roosevelt and Churchill, effectively ceding America’s leading role in creating and sharing wealth to nations that have never measured up to our country’s bountiful generosity or spirit of free-market entrepreneurship.
* In Venezuela, Obama sat passively while the Marxist Chavez handed him an American-bashing book and delivered another revile-America speech, while never once rising to defend our country.
* In Nicaragua, Obama again sat passively while the Marxist Ortega blamed the United States for a century of what he called terroristic U.S. aggression in Central America, again emitting not a whisper of defense on our country’s behalf.
* In Turkey, Obama said – incredibly and inaccurately – that America was not a Christian nation.
* And in his recent trip to Mexico, Obama said that the escalating border violence was essentially America’s fault.

Scan you memory. Can you think of any other leader in world history who so consistently badmouths his own country, or fails to defend it? I can’t.

obama-fingerWall St. Journal writer Dorothy Rabinowitz notes that Obama “had gone to Europe not as the voice of his nation, but as a missionary with a message of atonement for its errors. No sitting American president had ever delivered indictments of this kind while abroad, or for that matter at home. When [our allies] see Obama’s moral equivalence, they realize they are on their own and must cut their own deals to survive – understanding that multicultural trendiness is now a cynical cover for moral laxity and ‘can’t we all get along?’

Historian Victor Davis Hanson also noticed something odd about Obama’s apology tour. “Despite this fresh climate of atonement, there was a complete absence of a single apology from any other foreign leader…not a word came from Britain about colonialism…nothing from Germany on the Holocaust…not a peep from France about Algeria or Vietnam. Turkey was mum on the Armenian killings…Russia said nothing about the 30 million murdered by Stalin…Nothing came from China about the 70 million who perished under Mao…Mr. Medvedev said nothing about Putin’s brutish rule…We saw no concrete evidence of any help — or hope and change — from any foreign leader. Zilch.”

A fairly damning indictment coming from any American journalist; this is absolutely stunning coming from a non-American. Obama hates America; and it’s not just my opinion and that of a million tea bag partyers — everyone around the world can see it, too.

It’s a bit long, but well worth the read for it’s depth of research and stunning detail. Go HERE: read already!

UPDATE: This just in from a reader:

I saw the subject article via Twitter. It is posted on your site andI need to let you know the article on your blog site is without approval or direct credit to the author. It erroneously appears as though it is your work. That’s a serious offense which must be corrected immediately.

To find the author’s contact information, go to her site: http://www.joanswirsky.com click on “Articles.”  Follow up, as required with the author, Joan Swirsky. Thank you.
This communication is from: clergywomen – Twitter user (Rev. LED Dowell, Five-Fold Minister) Email: revldowell-clergywomen@erols.com

For the record, this e-mail was also sent to the author of the article.  I have yet to hear from her on this.  This e-mail is NOT from the author, but from an overzealous fan.  Or friend.  Or stalker; whatever.

(It also reinforces my feelings on women in the ministry, but that’s another subject.)

And again for the record, I have tried to excerpt this article according to “Fair Use” guidelines, and have twice, TWICE included hyperlinks to the original article, which should tell you this is by no means my own work.  The first line of my article states that it is “An excellent article from Canada Free Press”, which gives attribution to the original source.  The article is even indented to delineate it from my own work.

Compared to the size of the article, this is excerpting seven paragraphs out of 52 in the original article.

Do you actually read blogs much, “Reverend,” or do you just like attempting to annoy Americans?

Note to the author: Reverend Dowel has now provided more than ample documentation of your article, and I have used “Fair Use” guidelines on the article.  If you have any problems with my excerpt of the article, please let me know yourself and we’ll chat.  My contact information can be found on the blog.

If you look, dear.  Loved your article, by the way.

UPDATE 2: The incredibly annoying Reverned Dowel has replied again:

Jxxx Lxxx – This is my last transmission to you on this subject.

Oh, Thank God. They were starting to get annoying. And “Jxxx Lxxx” is my websmaster; please don’t drag him into this — unless you’re trying to imply “I know who you are” or something like that.

I regret you misunderstood my intent.

I don’t think I misunderstood your intent. You wote a message to me demanding I immediately credit your author friend — something I’d already done with my link. You didn’t like the way I did it — even though the way I do it is common practice on thousands of blogs across the internet — and you decided to pick a fight. I get that.

Fair use includes a direct acknowledgment of author to their work and you have herein admitted you did not have (or notice) that source when you copied her work from CFP.

First, let me be clear. When you start using legal terms like “herein” or “admitted” I take that as a threat. Be warned — I have my own lawyer, and don’t take well to them. Second, I admitted no such thing. Try reading my posts instead of trying to read my mind.

My intent was to help you in that regard to understand you had not gone far enough in your “Fair Use” and how to correct it.

But, as for your “feelings on women in the ministry,” which you stated — Without a doubt that has more to say about you than it does about me.

Oh, absolutely I agree with that. It means I take a more fundamentalist view and literal view of the scriptures; particularly 1 Cor. 14 and 1 Timothy 2. I’m sure you’ve heard that before; but I believe it.

However, if you really understood the seriousness of the problem about which I attempted to alert you, then perhaps you’d have another opinion.

Snideness hardly becomes you, ‘Reverend.” I’ve written a Master’s Thesis and had it published. I also am working on my first commercial book right now. I think I have a good grasp of the issues involving intellectual property. In fact, my seven greats grand-uncle was Stephen Foster, who invented the issue of Intellectual Property rights and the American Copyright system with his musical compositions and residual revenues.

Unless you meant that as a threat — which, given the snide tone of your e-mail, is hardly something I can dismiss.

Lastly, I acknowledge you have now contacted the author to follow up.

That’s mighty white of you, “Reverend.” Because let me be clear on three points:

1.) To the best of my knowledge — and the best knowledge of my lawyer — I have followed the minimum requirements for ‘Fair Use.”

2.) If the author — not her busybody cleric friend — but the author — has any problems about this, she can feel free to contact me at this e-mail address and I’ll be happy to discuss it or make any necessary alterations she feels necessary.

She. Not you. She. Butt out already.

The next e-mail I receive from you on this subject will be considered harassment and referred to people who can make things happen. Like your Internet provider.

And whilst I’m not sure exactly what a “Fivefold Minister” entails, or what church embraces your theology (I looked it up; it seems to be a mail-order ministry thing), I’m pretty sure this is hardly a Christ-like attitude you’re modeling here.

Go Away already.

This epitaph comes today via Ed Morrissey at Hot Air:

f22_raptor_largeThe high-level campaign to save the F-22 as a production system has likely come to an end.  Lockheed Martin, the program’s prime contractor, announced that they would cease all lobbying activity after Defense Secretary Robert Gates scratched the Raptor in a series of cost-cutting moves at the Pentagon.  That leaves 95,000 jobs at risk:

Lockheed Martin will not spend any more time and effort trying to overturn Defense Secretary Robert Gates’ decision to halt production of F-22 Raptor fighter jets, a top company official said Tuesday.

After making a vigorous case for the F-22 with Gates, other senior Pentagon officials and Congress in recent months, Lockheed plans to move on and meet its commitments for other major defense programs such as the F-35 joint strike fighter. …

Lockheed had lobbied the Pentagon and Congress for months to counter public statements by Gates and former Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England that the Air Force did not need to buy more F-22s after pending orders for 187 planes are filled.

The company even bought ads in Washington newspapers and on bus-stop benches extolling the F-22’s virtues.

f-35-joint-strike-fighterLockheed instead will focus on accelerating deliveries of the F-35 Lightning II fighter, which Gates chose as priority over the F-22.  They want to push the schedule so that they can make up the difference in revenue quickly, as the lack of sales would likely force layoffs rather than transfers to the new program.  They scheduled F-35 deliveries originally to begin in 2010 and to meet operational levels in 2012, but with the extra labor and narrower focus, perhaps Lockheed can move those dates up a bit.

The withdrawal will likely close a minor debate point from President Obama’s critics, who looked at the scale of government stimulus spending in other sectors and wondered why the F-22 wouldn’t make a good subject for job preservation.  The entire production chain employed 95,000 people by its advocates’ estimates, and the price of delivering the remaining Raptors would have been dwarfed by the rest of Porkulus.  With Lockheed conceding the point, the question is now moot.

This is actually a very canny move by Defense Secretary Gates for a lot of reasons.  While the F-22 Raptor is a fighter at an almost “Star-Wars” level of technical competence (the only thing it can’t do is fly through space to Tatooine by itself), we still posess the F-15 , which forty years after it’s introduction is still light-years ahead of what most of the rest of the world has to offer.  With many years of life still left in it’s airframe and the F-22 a very expensive aircraft, the Raptor is an easy cancellation if only from a budgetary standpoint.

The F-35 Lightning II is another matter altogether.  The Lightning is scheduled to replace a broad group of aircraft, including the Air Force’s F-16 fighter, the NavyF/A 18,  and the AV-8B Harrier jump jet the Marines fly to devastating advantage.  Even older than the F-15, the harrier is very labor intensive to fly, and can only hover for 90 seconds due to engineering limitations of the day.  The F-35 will be able to hover indefinitely due to it’s radical turboshaft design; and maneuver like the F-22; which is to say, at levels undreamed of in any other fighter in the world.

So, the F-35 has many of the F-22’s advantages, plus it can hover like a helicopter.  Truly awesome.

Now if the Libs go after the F-35, like they usually try to gut the military of all it’s good tools (Jimmy Carter and the B-1 bomber or the M-1 Tank, anyone?) — then I’ll start screaming.

It wouldn’t surprise me.
