Summary of this week’s report:

The 2012 Texas primary is only a few weeks away and voting for the right candidates is more essential than it’s ever been. The stakes
are huge at both the state and national levels. It’s vital that we nominate true conservatives to represent us on the ballot in
November. Here are my thoughts on the primary, along with my
personal endorsements.

Beloved Guest Columnist Peter Morrison has some sharp words for Austin Insider and Texas House Chairman Joe Straus: FORGET ABOUT BEING RE-ELECTED SPEAKER!

In the history of The Peter Morrison Report, this may be the most important message I’ve ever sent you. After Election Day’s historic Republican gains in Texas, Republicans now hold 99 seats out of 150 in the Texas House. We can now push to remove Joe Straus, the liberal, pro-abortion Speaker of the House, and replace him with a true conservative.

Just as a reminder, here’s why Joe Straus needs to go:

* As Speaker, Straus appointed liberal committee chairs Burt Solomons and Brian McCall who effectively killed all immigration enforcement legislation in the 2009 session. Because the Legislature only meets every two years, this means the ongoing invasion of our state cannot be addressed until 2011 at the earliest.

* Joe Straus is pro-abortion. In fact, his rabbi sits on the board of San Antonio Planned Parenthood. I can tell you what I would do if my pastor supported Planned Parenthood: I would find a new church. Joe Straus clearly lacks the moral compass to be Speaker, the third most powerful office in the state.

* According to Heritage Alliance, in the last legislative session in which he voted, Joe Straus voted with conservatives only 52% of the time, which was the second worst voting record among Republicans. In fact, five Democrats were more conservative than Straus! His claim to be a conservative leader is laughable. He was elected in 2009 because of a coalition of turncoat Republicans and every Democrat in the Texas House.

Both Rep. Warren Chisum and Rep. Ken Paxton, who are Christians and true conservatives, have risen to the occasion to challenge Joe Straus for leadership.

Now I’m about to tell you breaking news about Joe Straus that should infuriate you. He just released a letter yesterday
attacking Rep. Chisum. I’m going to share the last paragraph with you:

“If you truly believe that the Texas House of Representatives should be protected from the kind of scorched earth campaign unleashed by your allies, then I call on you to put a stop to it for the sake of the membership. Stop the threatening letters, mean-spirited emails, and angry phone calls. Let each member of the House, elected to represent the views of their constituents, decide this election free of such divisive hostility.”

Let me translate for you: the election’s over. The grassroots needs to sit down at the back of the bus while the insiders decide who’s in charge. Straus has nothing but contempt for the thousands of conservative Texans communicating with their legislator to try and elect a conservative speaker. You see, in Joe Straus’ world, legislators are supposed to represent their constituents’ views, but if a constituent actually shares their views then that’s “mean
spirited.”

Right now I believe the Republicans in the Texas House are ready for a new Speaker. However, they’re also scared. They know if they come out for a conservative Speaker and Straus somehow survives, they will be punished in the 2011 session.

In fact, one of Straus’ bullying tactics just came to light as I write this. Rep. Brian Hughes released a letter saying he will not
support Straus, and among his reasons why: Straus’ staff threatened him with redistricting if he didn’t cooperate.

Think about this: a Republican Speaker, threatening a Republican member with the prospect of a gerrymandered district that would disenfranchise his conservative constituents. This tactic reveals that Straus is truly a traitor, a man who would hurt conservatives in order to hold on to power.

I think there is great hope right now, but you need to take action. Joe Straus has played “Mr. Nice Guy” for the last two years, but cracks are starting to appear in that facade. His contemptuous dismissal of the grassroots and his bullying tactics reveal desperation in a man who feels threatened by the conservative victory of Election Day.

Now is the time to apply pressure. Now is the time to demand your representative support a true conservative for Speaker.

Your representative needs to hear from you today, demanding they support a conservative like Warren Chisum or Ken Paxton for Speaker. Please go to this site and call or email your member today:

http://www.fyi.legis.state.tx.us/

Just enter your address and call your member of the Texas House of Representatives. This is not your Congressman, but your state representative. Then, please visit this site and sign the petition supporting a conservative Speaker:

He said WHAT now?

POLITICO notes:

The deeply odd couple of Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Penn.) and Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) appeared together on a Philly radio station yesterday — and things got ugly in short order.

The exchange, broadcast on 1210 AM’s Dom Giordano Show [but not archived on the station’s site], began when Specter challenged Bachmann to articulate what, exactly, she stands for, according to a readout on the clash published by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s lively Early Returns blog.

Bachmann first laid out her agenda — cutting taxes and killing President Obama’s health reform bill — at considerable length.

When Specter tried to counter, Bachmann, darling of the Tea Party movement, kept on talking, which didn’t sit well with the one-time Philadelphia DA, who is a stickler for politeness and protocol.

“I’m going to treat you like a lady,” Mr. Specter shot back. “Now act like one.”

Ms. Bachmann replied, “I am a lady.”

Oh yeah — that’s what Ms. Bachmann (who is the mother of twenty-eight children (five naturally, 23 foster kids) needs to be told. Yup – that’ll do it.

Audio clip of the exchange HERE (not too long; a bit over two minutes.)

Bachmann was interviewed on Sean Hannity’s radio show HERE and characterized Specter’s rudeness as “I Was Patronized And Basically Told To Sit Down And Shut Up.”

Which, pretty much, she was, really. Hillary Clinton or any other Democrat woman would have demanded an apology bynow.

Later, on Hannity’s Fox News program that night, Bachmann said she was “Stunned” At Specter’s “Arrogance.”

It’s got to be hard to be Arlen Specter today. Your Democrap friends are threatening you if you don’t vote a certain way; your Republican friends won’t return you calls, and rude upstart women interrupt you all the time.

How dare they! Don’t they know who he is? I mean, REALLY!

Peter Visclosky (D-IN), noted sock puppet of Pennsylvania corruptocrat John Murtha, knew he was going to have problems at his Town Hall Meetings in his district of Indiana. He remains under investigation for bribery in his dealings with a Murtha-connected Lobbying firm, and while the heavily-Democrat voting areas of Lake county would probably continue to vote him back into office blindly, he expected some Tea Party action in Republican Porter County.

Much to his surprise (and mine), Visclosky drew heavy fire in Lake County forums at Hebron as well as the county seat of Crown Point.

So what to do if you’re an “entitled” Democrap who doesn’t like the mean constituents yelling at you? You make sure the cops are there at your forums.

Oh yeah, THAT will endear your constituents to you, for sure!

The turnout for U.S. Rep. Pete Visclosky was bigger in Chesterton — but louder in Portage.

The forum in the Westchester Library Service Center attracted 150 people, while 100 packed the Portage City Council chamber.

At both stops, almost half of the questions on cards and from the floor dealt with the coming House-Senate conference on health care reform bill.

Visclosky again refused to say how he would vote on the bill when it comes out of the joint committee.

Coward. Like we don’t already know he’s voted for almost everything the Obama Administration has rammed through Congress.

One person in Portage asked, “Why are you walking in lockstep with Obama, Reid and Pelosi on their radical agenda?”

The first eruption followed the efforts of Joyce Bennett of Valparaiso to press him on whether health care reform would increase property taxes.  “It’s going to cost Indiana $2.4 billion in additional Medicaid costs,” she said, waving a sheaf of what she said was research that showed health reform is not deficit neutral.

“That is patently false. There’s no connection with property taxes,” Visclosky replied, to general shouts of disapproval.

Excuse me, Congressman Imbecile; she didn’t say anything about Property Taxes. Are you deaf as well as stupid? She said Medicaid Costs — and that’s already in both bills, if you had bothered to read them.

And then it got ugly:

Two Portage police officers stepped forward when a senior citizen, who later declined to identify herself, stood up to vent. “There wouldn’t be this much discussion if we didn’t have so many lies from the House,” she said. She sat down before any action was taken.

And . . . I’m struggling to see what the threat was here that the cops had to intimidate a senior citizen for speaking her mind. Scared of little old ladies, Pete? (Oh, wait — he probably sees Nancy Pelosi on a daily basis; that’s pretty damned scary right there.)

In Valparaiso, one of the questions he faced was whether, if the majority of voters in his district were against health care reform, Visclosky would vote against it. As he has done at other forums, Visclosky demurred.

“I can’t tell you. It’s a work in progress,” he said, adding that while many of those in the audience opposed health care reform, some of the 675,000 people in his district think the proposed reform doesn’t go far enough.

Yes; less than 35% of them according to the polls. So does that mean we go against the will of the majority; or is this still the United States of America, and a democracy, you supercilious twit?

He fought against occasional interruptions, which he pointed out came from people who had done the same at other forums. After one particularly heated exchange, a Valparaiso police officer edged through a doorway into the City Hall chambers. A second officer was stationed in the hallway.

When asked to name “just one thing that government does better than the private sector,” Visclosky said Social Security, drawing both applause and boos as some pointed out the system was going broke.

“I cannot imagine or envision what the average life of a senior citizen would be today if we did not have Social Security,” he said. “I would worry more about the Cubs winning the pennant this year than Social Security going broke,” he said.

Oddly, the Hometown paper of Portage and Chesterton, The Northwest Indiana Times, decided not to cover these events. Not that they’re slanted in their coverage or anything, but they have endorsed Visclosky every time for re-election, as well as endorsing Obama for President.

Probably just an oversight or something.

In a surge from far, far behind incumbent governor Charlie Crist, Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio has now tied Crist in polling for the 2010 Senate race:

Governor Charlie Crist and former state House Speaker Marco Rubio are now tied in the 2010 race for the Republican Senate nomination in Florida.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely GOP Primary voters finds Crist and Rubio each with 43% of the vote. Five percent (5%) prefer another candidate, and nine percent (9%) are undecided.

Crist’s support has fallen from 53% in August to 49% in October. Rasmussen Reports noted at the time, “The fact that Crist has fallen below 50% in a primary against a lesser known opponent suggests potential vulnerability.”

Rubio’s name recognition has grown in recent months and he is now viewed Very Favorably by 34% of Likely Primary Voters. That’s up from 18% in August. As his name recognition increased, Rubio’s support in the polls has jumped from 31% in August to 43% today.

While ot mentioned directly, President Screw-Up seems to be somewhat directly responsible for Charlie Crist’s woes in the polls:

Crist, well known throughout the state, has seen his ratings go in the opposite direction. Just 19% now have a Very Favorable opinion of him, a figure that represents a double digit decline since August. Crist angered many conservatives in the state when he embraced President Obama’s $787-billion economic stimulus plan. While the Republican establishment has endorsed Crist, many prominent GOP conservatives including Mike Huckabee, South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint and former Bush adviser Karl Rove are backing Rubio.

An interesting note to all the Tea Partiers at the end of the article:

However, if a Tea Party candidate is in the race, the picture changes dramatically. A separate, three-way Generic Ballot test finds that Democrats attract 36% of the vote, while the Tea Party candidate picks up 23% and Republicans finish third at 18%.

This suggests — strongly suggests — that Rubio has massive Tea Party support; and given Crist’s strong RINO inclinations, the Cubano-Americano Rubio looks better and better to real Conservatives.

Watch for Crist to get ugly after the first of the year.

San Antonio’s Tea Party Patriots gathered at the Alamo to Protest the Obamacare bill currently pendingin the Senate on Wednesday, Decembr 16th, 2009.

In the drizzling rain.

In the 40 degree temperatures.

Frankly, I think it was amazing at all we even topped 100 people.  Those are some dedicated, seriously angry people.

(Please pardon the fogginess of the camera; I took it from a cold car into my warm house and everything fogged up.  My bad.)

The Alamo to the right; the Alamo Plaza Christmas Tree (sponsored by HEB) on the left, and the seriously angry people in between.

Protesters were mostly angry about spending (left), and many US and “Don’t-Tread-On-Me” Flas were apparent. (right)

KENS-TV sent both an on-site reporter to do interviews (And open their 5:00 pm newscast as wel), and a helicopter to circle Alamo Plaza.  No other news organizations bothered; not even the San Antonio Express-News, whose offices are three blocks north.

KENS-TV had us all gather aruond the camera and we obligingly sang Obamacare Christmas Carols as the newscast opened.  Lovely people.

The shot as seen from right next to the KENS-TV camera.  Groovy!

This guy had his nifty little signs on poles . . . .

. . . . that he could spin around on those poles and change the messages.  Great idea, nice guy, too.

Waving to passers-by from Alamo Plaza.  Almost every third or fourth car honked; almost ALL of them waved.  Some of them even waved more than one finger at a time.

And a good shot of the other flags there, too.   All things considered, a great turn-out for a terrible day weather-wise, and great coverage for the SA Tea Party as well.

The American Spectator has what may be the best commentary on the NY-23 race yet:

scozzafava newserAnyone who expected Dede Scozzafava to lose gracefully got a rude awakening over the weekend. Having stubbornly stayed in the upstate New York congressional race long past the point where her defeat was a certainty, Scozzafava made a tearful exit that was a masterpiece of self-pitying distortion.

This was a triple distortion by the liberal Republican assemblywoman who had been the GOP leadership’s handpicked choice for the nomination in the 23rd District special election.

Scozzafava’s poll numbers had been collapsing for weeks. An Oct. 15 Siena College poll showed she had fallen behind Democrat Bill Owens, while insurgent Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman had picked up momentum. Her support melted down rapidly after an Oct. 19 incident when her husband, union organizer Ron McDougall, called police on Weekly Standard reporter John McCormack, who had tried to get her to answer questions about her position on tax increases and “card-check” legislation. Even before the confrontation with McCormack, however, Scozzafava’s candidacy failed to draw strong GOP backing in a district that regularly voted by 2-to-1 margins for Republican Rep. John McHugh, whose appointment as Army Secretary had created the vacancy to be filled by Tuesday’s special election.

After the boohooing appearance Saturday morning where Scozzafava pulled the plug on her doomed campaign, Hoffman’s campaign team issued a conciliatory response and privately urged their candidate’s supporters to end attacks on their erstwhile Republican rival.

Instead, Sunday afternoon, Scozzafava plunged her knife into the back of the party that had chosen her for the nomination, when she announced her endorsement of the Democratic candidate. She had “thought long and hard about what is best for the people of this District,” Scozzafava said, asserting that her concern for “honest principles and a truthful discussion of the issues” led her to endorse Owens.

Thus ended weeks of intra-party division induced by the GOP’s ill-fated choice. As Michael Patrick Leahy observed, “The NRCC and RNC just spent $1 million on Dede Scozzafava. This is their reward.”

There’s a great deal more at the link above, that details the mis-steps and faux-pas that have characterized the Republican’s behavior, not just in Upstate New York, but also nationally.  Somehow in the transition from Ronald Reagan to Michael Steele, the “Big Tent” has been mistaken for a different sort of welcoming committee; where we went from “arms wide open” to something else wide open.

A-Hem!

Note to the Republicans, as well as the Democraps: The Tea parties are here, and we don’t take prisoners.

Remember This guy?

Well, He’s at it again, this time packing an alleged “Town Hall” meeting with friendly faces, and refusing to answer legitimate questions. Listen to how he dismissively ignores this first questioner, then read the whitewash article on the same meeting:

In his first town hall since garnering national attention for harshly criticizing Republicans on health care reform, Congressman Alan Grayson held a town hall in Tavares Monday night. Just a little over 200 people attended.

Grayson received some flack for again holding a town hall in a small venue, but he told reporters he didn’t choose the location.

“The county actually suggested this venue, as did the police,” he said.

With a crowd about 75 percent for to 25 against, it was a stacked deck. But he still took questions from all sides – like this man who wanted to know why Democrats are ignoring GOP suggestions.

“There are actually 13 of them that the Republicans have offered.”

But Grayson says none of them have been sent to the CBO to find out if their feasible.

Oh, Waaah, waaah, waaaaah. ” I didn’t choose the location. Nobody has submitted proposals to the CBO.” Hey Congressman; Tort reform has been a runaway success here in Texas; that’s why we’ve got a surplus of physicians.

Over 100 people gathered outside the town hall meeting where they waived homemade signs and chanted “read the bill” and “Grayson lies.”   Some, like Bobby Linn, tried to get tickets.

“I tried to get in,” he said. “I called [Grayson’s] office the day after the email went out and I couldn’t get in.”

Some people who left the town hall after getting frustrated told the protesters what was going on inside – that the crowd was stacked with Grayson supporters.

“It’s about what we expected,” Linn said.

NOTE to the Tea Parties of Florida: WHY is this guy still your Representative?

Just askin’.

Remember this scary little indoctrination video:

Apparently it still has some of the parents alittle wee-wee’d up:

BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) – Protesters brought some different songs Monday to an elementary school where students sang in praise of President Barack Obama, bringing criticism from conservative commentators who said children were being indoctrinated.

About 70 protesters stood on a sidewalk across the street from the B. Bernice Young School waving flags and homemade placards, singing “God Bless America” and “The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” and chanting slogans such as “No indoctrination” and “Free children, free minds.”

“The Battle Hymn of the Republic”
is one of the songs that had it’s lyrics mashed up in the Obama Song tribute. It’s toward the end of the video.

Monday’s 90-minute protest, held while the school was in session and attended largely by members of anti-tax organizations from around the state, was an outgrowth of that sentiment.

“We should continue protests like this to prevent this from happening again,” said Robert Gordan, 66, a retiree from Middletown.

C’mon AP — you can say “Tea Party.” C’mon. Say it. C’mon!

Karen Flowers, a 43-year-old state government social worker, was there to protest the protesters. “I don’t have any problem with the first African-American president, the children singing about it,” Flowers said. “They’re making a lot out of nothing.”

My my my — was threat the specter of racism she was trying to invoke? Wanna bet she’s an SEIU member, too?

Jim and Gina Pronchick, who were among the few protesters who have children in the school, said they were upset that their son was in the video without their permission—and that school officials hadn’t fully explained the context of the song.

The song was performed in February during an assembly that celebrated a number of occasions, from Black History Month to Dental Health Month, the township Board of Education said in a statement Monday. The lyrics were sent home to parents in advance, the board said.

Okay — that’s a damned dirty lie, and I can tell you exactly why. When was the last time your kid’s school sent home the lyrics of any song your kid was going to sing? If it’s true, they knew there were problems with the song in advance, and were trying to wash their hands of it.

But I sincerely, strongly doubt it’s true. The Board is lying to cover their collective butts.

The video was made a month later when Charisse Carney-Nunes, who wrote the children’s book “I Am Barack Obama,” visited the school and children sang the song again, school officials said.

“There was no intention to make any political statement or promote a political agenda at all,” Superintendent Christopher Manno said in the statement.

Uh-huh. “We sang a song about one particular (sitting) President — but it had no political agenda at all” Riiiiiight. Suuuuuure it didn’t, you lying sack of shinola. NOTE to the Tea Parties of New Jersey: WHY is this guy still your schools superintendent?

The teacher who oversaw the class has retired.

Yeah, I’ll just bet she did. That’s probably one of the motivators for doing it: “I’m retiring — let them try and fire me.”

In other words, just another day in the American Education System: Incompetence, Arrogance, Lying through their teeth to the parents, and our kids struggle to pass the tests.

Vouchers are looking better and better, aren’t they?

An e-mail I got today from the San Antonio Tea Party, which I compl;etely agree with.  Can’t add a thing to this:

This is a MOST URGENT CALL TO ACTION for all tea party, 9-12 groups and like
minded organizations and liberty loving patriots!

April 15th Tea Pary shirtThe Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has finished the ‘scoring’ of the Backus
so-called health care reform bill in the Senate Finance Committee. Despite
saying they will vote on this ‘legislation’ next week (which hasn’t even been
put in actual legislative language yet) the Senate Finance Committee could vote
on this at any moment, including in the middle of the night at 2:00 A.M. like
they did when they sent it to the CBO.

At any moment this usurpation of your freedom can be passed out of the committee
and on to the full Senate, where Harry [I’ll shove this monster down your
throat] Reid will merge it with ‘legislation’ from other committees for a vote
on the Senate floor. Senator Reid already has plans for how he will work this
monster through and is counting votes. Reid must be denied his ‘national
socialism’ plan masked as health care reform.

Make no mistake – this ‘legislation’ will take your freedoms in thousands of
ways by controlling you and everyone you know where it matters most, starting
with your health care. Seniors will be robbed of their health care coverage as
their current plans are stripped of funding so those least able to pay (on
social security) will be left with nothing. You, your parents or you yourself
in the future will not have health insurance as this legislation reshapes every
aspect of American life by who gets health care and who does not. We will all
have to pay for those here illegally, at what expense? The expense of our
freedoms and health care for our parents and we ourselves as we get older.
I’m not getting any younger, are you?

Do you want this legislated socialism? Do you want seniors and yourself
ultimately to be screwed? (sorry to use that language, but that is what is
happening). If not, then this is what needs to be done NOW!!!!

ACTION: CALL, IN PERSON VISIT, HAND WRITE FAXES TO EVERY SENATOR IN THE U.S.
WHEN: NOW, TODAY, EVERY DAY… UNTIL THIS BILL IS KILLED PERMANENTLY!
WHO: EVERY LIBERTY LOVER IN AMERICA – YOU, YOUR FAMILY, YOUR FRIENDS!

teaparty-lake-charles-laTHE TAKE ACTION PHRASE IS: KILL THE BILL NOW!

Tell every Senator in the U.S. Senate if they vote for this taking of our
liberty, we will vote them out of office when they are up for election (if
they’re not in 2010, they will be in 2012 or 2014) and we’ll fund the campaigns
of their opponent. This includes Republicans AND Democrats. Bottom line: they vote for this, they will be FIRED. PERIOD.

Do this NOW, TODAY, EVERY DAY – UNTIL THIS BILL IS KILLED PERMANENTLY!

FIGHT LIKE YOUR VERY LIFE DEPENDS ON THIS – BECAUSE IT DOES!

Go to http://www.senate.gov/ and starting calling, in person visits and faxing.
All the Senator’s contacts can be found there.

If you love your liberty, DO IT – NOW! Spread this email to everyone you know,
and ask them to spread it to everyone they know.

Two million plus lovers of liberty were in Washington, D.C. on 9-12-09.
Twenty million people at least can contact 100 Senators… Yes?

Thank you fellow patriots….

I’m still shaking my head over this one. Someone will have to explain to me how a United States Senator can ask the media to hide his itinerary from his constituents:

dirty_dick_durbinA spokesman for U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-Illinois) says the senator’s office will no longer send media information to Quincy’s oldest radio station because the station decided to let the public know he was coming to town.

Christina Angarola of Durbin’s Chicago office called WTAD on Monday to inform them they would no longer be included on the list of those receiving news releases from the senator when he plans to visit West-Central Illinois.

Moyers said Angarola was not pleased that WTAD chose to make public the time and place of Durbin’s September 4 visit to Quincy’s Blessing Hospital to hold a meeting on health care with officials from the hospital, Quincy Medical Group and Quincy Mayor John Spring and State Senator John Sullivan (D-Rushville).

The news release sent by Durbin’s office on the afternoon of September 3 said “NOTE: The times and locations of these events are for media planning purposes only and should not be published or aired in any form.”

Angarola did not respond to an e-mail from QuincyNews.org for comment. Calls to the senator’s Chicago office have not yet been returned. A call to the Washington office was diverted to Angarola’s voice mail.

“I’m disappointed the senator and his office have chosen to silence the press,” Moyers said.

Durbin, the assistant majority leader of the Senate, has been an outspoken critic of health care town hall meetings, said he didn’t want to get a “sucker-punch” from constituents and opted to have a session in a conference room before an invited few and a handful of reporters.

Four of the 10 people Durbin chose to meet on September 4 have donated to Durbin’s campaign fund in the past: Blessing Corporate Services President/CEO Brad Billings, Niemann Foods Inc. Chairman Rich Niemann, Sr., Spring and Sullivan. Durbin has also funneled several thousands of dollars from his war chest back to Spring’s mayoral campaign fund.

Durbin, who is the senior Senator from that bluest of Blue States Illinois (guess who ws the Junior Senator), has been consistently voted the most Liberal Senator in the Senate for the last 20 years.

Must be kinda embarrassing for the people of Illinois; yet they continue to re-elect this self-centered imbecile. Go Figure.

Got this item in my e-mail from the San Antonio Tea Pary this morning. It seems to be calling for Republican Senators in the Senate Finance Committee to Walk Out Today to deny a Quorum on the Public Option:

URGENT CALL: Ask the Republican Senators to WALK OUT!!!

Senate Finance Committee to vote on Public Option line item Tuesday

Hellow Fellow Patriots!

The Senate Finance Committee is scheduled to vote on the Public Option line item of the Health Care Bill on *Tuesday, September 29th.* Democrats have the votes.  But, there is a way to stop the process – using Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure for the Senate Finance Committee.

Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure for the Senate Finance Committee reads:
”Rule 4. Quorums. – (a) Except as provided in subsection (b) one-third of the membership of the committee, including not less than one member of the majority party and one member of the minority party, shall constitute a quorum for the conduct of business.”

Conservative citizens all across the United States must demand that Republican Senators in the Senate Finance Committee stop negotiating and Walk Out for America. We will support this effort and will support the Republican members of the Committee. Call and email the following Republican Senators and tell them to Take a Stand and Walk Out.  We the People need to tell our elected this point is *NON-NEGOTIABLE AND MUST BE STOPPED.*

Contact these Republican Senators today, quote Rule 4, and tell them their Constituents demand this Bill be *STOPPED*.

If you have family, friends or business associates in any of these states other than Texas, please contact them and ask them to call.

Okay, Problem #1 I can see is you have Olympia Snowe (RINO, Maine) and Orrin Hatch (RINO, UT) who will almost certainly not participate in the walkout. Chuck Grassley of Iowa is problematic as well, but he might go along with the crowd. (He usually does.)

And while I’m reluctant to employ the tactics the goofy Leftoids use, my grandma wouyld say that “Sauce for the goose is, indeed, sauce for the gander.” Ir would very likely drive them nuts — just look at how crazy they get over the Tea Parties, that usurp the “citizens protest” format of the 60’s.

Heh.

Finally, seriously consider donating to the San Antonio Tea Party. They have the BEST T-shirts of any Tea Party I’ve ever seen;l with the “Don’t Tread on Me” rattlesnake coiled around the Alamo. how cool is that?

TEXT HERESinger-Songwriter Anne Harpen continues to amaze me. I’ve tweeted her stuff before, but now somebody has remixed her stuff and given her a band to back her up, and the results are just marvelous.

Here’s the remix of the fantastic “Walk The Streets In Anger”, which should become the Tea Party’s Anthem — by far the best of the Tea Party songs I’ve heard.

And this is a new one to me; her anti-abortion song “She Didn’t Deserve This,” which darn near made me cry.

Now could somebody please get this lady a gig on Huckabee already???

Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina has become the first Congressman in history to be formally “rebuked” in the hisotry of the Congress.

The first.

The FIRST.

Bailout BanksEven after Rep. Barney Frank of Massachusetts had a male prostitute running a gay brothel out of his apartment in the 1980’s.

nancy_pelosiEven after House Speaker Pelosi of California accused the CIA or continuously “lying to Congress” publicly.

charles_rangel_tax-cheatEven after Rep. Charlie Rangel of New York hid income and failed to pay back taxes.

Ajohn_murthand then there’s Rep. Murtha of Pennsylvania; a “one-man scandal machine” (as one pundit put it) who started out with AbScam bribes in the 1980’s and is currently pulling down Rep Vsclosky of Indiana with him for taking kickbacks from government contracts.

All came before Rep. Wilson. All are Democrats.

But let one Republican “speak truth to power,” and By God, that insubordination will not be tolerated!

WASHINGTON – Bitterly divided along party lines, the House formally rebuked Republican Rep. Joe Wilson Tuesday for shouting “You lie” at President Barack Obama during last week’s nationally televised speech to Congress.

pelosi reid obama reactionThe final tally late Tuesday was 240-179, generally but not entirely along party lines. It was 233 Democrats and seven Republicans voting to chastise Wilson, 167 Republicans and 12 Democrats opposing the measure and five Democrats merely voting “present.”

One of the Democrats voting “present,” Barney Frank of Massachusetts, said, “I think it’s bad precedent to put us in charge of deciding whether people act like jerks. I don’t have time to monitor everyone’s civility.”

The Office of the House Historian said the resolution marked the first time in the 220-year history of the House that a member had been admonished for speaking out while the president was giving an address.

Rep John Carter of Texas,  Republican Cponference Secretary, had a very strong objection to the censure:

rep-carter-john tx“We are witnessing perhaps the most blatant display of moral and legal hypocrisy in the history of this body,” says House Republican Conference Secretary John R. Carter of Texas. “Speaker Pelosi and President Obama have allowed Democrats at the highest levels of the federal government to violate the tax laws of the United States with impunity, blocked all attempts by this body to hold them accountable, and have made a mockery of our system of justice and the Rule of Law. Yet they find it important to hold a vote against a Republican for two words blurted out during a speech by the President, for which he has already apologized. We are witnessing truly malignant partisanship of historic proportion.”

Carter introduced a privileged resolution earlier this year calling for removal of Rangel as Chairman of House Ways and Means, the House committee that oversees the IRS, while Rangel remained under investigation for tax violations, among other ethics charges. The resolution was blocked from consideration or debate on a party line vote by Democrats, in spite of the removal being supported by the editorial boards of the New York Times, Washington Post, and numerous other major daily newspapers historically favorable to Democrats.

Carter also introduced the Rangel Rule legislation that would provide the same waiver of penalties and interest on back taxes for all Americans as that enjoyed by Rangel. That measure has also been blocked by House Democrats.

jam itAnd the the Congressman showed the cut of his jib with a remarkable statement that puts him right in line with the Populist Tea Parties and 9-12 Movement:

“It is becoming increasingly apparent that the only way this House will restore the Rule of Law is for the American people to overthrow it,” says Carter. “It is time for a revolution at the polls in November 2010.”

Here’s a Congressman who “gets it.” I’m sending this guy a contribution today.

. . . . in a long line of Tea Party Anthems. I think it’s safe to sat that there’s very likely as many (if not more0 Tea Party Anthems out there as the were 9-11 Anthems at a corresponding time after 9-11.

It’s a deep, responsive chord; and it resonates on and on.

The thing I particularly like about this one is it could very easily become one of the standards in American patriotic music; like American the Beautiful, or My country ‘Tis of Thee, or the National Anthem.

Rarified company. Excellent Song.

You may remember the post yesterdays that said two San Antonio school districts had decided not to show President Obama’s speech to schoolchildren (Northside ISD and Northeast ISD), and that San Antonio ISD has decided any teacher wishing to view the speech must contct the parents of the children first. This effectively means that 75% of San Antonio’s school children will not see the President’s speech.

The two holdout school districts are the Schertz – Cibolo – Universal City ISD (The Randolph AFB and Fort Sam Houston housing areas) and the Alamo Heights ISD (tony, old money — very liberal) will be showing the President’s speech.

From the San Antonio Tea Party Website: (Edited slightly for clarity by Your Alamo City Pundit)

Friday Sept. 4th, starting at 8:00 A.M. SATP Patriots protested outside the Alamo Heights ISD administrative offices.   On Sept. 8th President Obama will be speaking to all public school children. The guidelines published by the U.S. Department of Eduction to accompany the President’s speech are not appropriate and if followed constitute a violation of State and Federal law. You can find what “educational materials” the teachers will be using in conjunction with this message by  visiting HERE.

Then Please go to This Site and read # 3b and the following paragraphs. It details where teachers can get on the wrong side of the law, as shown below:

40600001Your Alamo City Pundit is tickled to report that the Whole Foods “Buy-Cott” at the Alamo Quarry Whole Foods  appears to have been a rousing success, as judged on several criteria:

    • There was a plethora of Tea Party Tea Shirts, as seen here by Twitter’s @SMendi
and her husband, Dave (Semper Fi there, Dave!)  Your Alamo City Pundit counted 22 Tea Partiers in just under two hours, although many people coming to or from work were there without Tea Party Garb.  Alamo City Pundit’s best guess: minimum of 100 people turned out — minimum.
    • The amount of people shopping at the San Antonio Whole Foods seemed to be undiminished by the alleged Boycott; in fact, the lines were five to eight people deep when your Alamo City Pundit checked out around 8pm8:00 pm now!!!
    • The threat of SEIU and AFSCME to send buses of counter protesters never materialized, much to our relief.  (ACP had been tipped to possible 1 or 2 buses of protesters coming from Austin to demonstrate in front of the Store.  Apparently the San Antonio PD presence out front was an effective deterrent .  Either that, or the Unions were unable to get people to make the trip.

whole foods 2The kicker is that Fox’s Greta Van Sustern reported on her show “On The Record” tonight that Whole Foods stock price has been unchanged since the publication of the Wall-Street Journal Op-Ed on August 11th; and the Op-Ed has actually marginally increased sales overall.

So the Boycott is a big fat fizzle.  And the “Buy-Cott” is a big Honkin’ Success.

I love it when a plan comes together.  I’ll update this post when I talk to the Whole Foods Manager in the morning.  (His Assistant Manager “Jim” was busy running to and fro talking to new customers I didn’t have the heart to bother him.)

You may remember that I previously posted HERE about Anne Harpen’s new Tea Party Protest Song “Walk The Streets In Anger,” which is heart rending and galvanizing at the same time. Wonderful Stuff.

Well, she has a new version that’s even better:

You know, I think I know what affects me so deeply about this song. The whole ting about the left is that they want to Change America. They don’t like what it is and has been, and they are going to get in our faces to change it all, or destroy it all.

Doesn’t matter to them which way, as long as it’s not the way it was. No compromise, no discussion, no half measures. They want to overthrow it all, by any-means-necessary.

I really don’t know my country anymore. This is where I draw my line. I think this country, for all it’s faults, is the best thing the world has ever seen, period.

Pass this on. ReTweet it on Twitter. Post it on your Facebook or MySpace or whatever page or blog.

obamaized-imageYour Alamo City Pundit (hey — that’s me!) is calling for a “Buycott” of the San Antonio Whole Foods Market at the Quarry Market.  A “Buycott” is a Reverse Boycott — bring your grocery money for the week, and a little more to support Whole Foods.

In keeping with the “Reverse Boycott” idea, Alamo City Pundit is requesting that we keep this as low key as possible No demonstrations, no signs, no loud angry noises to cause problems for the staff at Whole Foods — leave that to the Liberal Leftoids.  However, wear your Tea Party T-Shirts if you’ve got ’em, or any other apparel supporting Whole Foods, the Constitution, or other similarly appropriate stuff. Let the staff quietly know you’re there, and that you support them. (Red, White, and Blue would be good).

The San Antonio Buycott is being held in conjunction with other national Buycotts in Dallas, Connecticut, Pittsburgh, Fort Lauderdale FL, and St. Louis,as the National Tea Party Coalition reports:

St. Louis, Missouri–(BUSINESS WIRE)— The national leadership team of the Nationwide Tea Party Coalition this morning announced a series of Tea Party Buycott events designed to support John Mackey and the Whole Foods grocery chain. Mackey is the CEO whose op-ed in The Wall Street Journal opposing Obamacare and supporting free market health care reform has sparked unprecedented and unwarranted attacks from left wing propagandists. The first two events are scheduled for Tuesday evening, September 1, 2009 in St. Louis, Missouri and Dallas, Texas.  Details of these Tea Party Buycotts and future Buycotts can be found online at http://www.teapartybuycott.com.

whole foods 2Dana Loesch of the St. Louis Tea Party explained that a Tea Party Buycott asks supporters to gather [in this case] at the Whole Foods store to show economic support. “We are asking supporters to do all their week’s grocery shopping that night. Most tea party supporters are not regular customers of Whole Foods, and we want to show our support for Mr. Mackey’s championship of free market health care reforms.”

Katrina Pierson of the Dallas Tea Party echoed Loesch’s comments, adding “Whole Foods will be supported by tens of thousands of fellow Americans, showcasing the economic impact the Tea Party movement can play in support of people who share our ideals.”

Kevin Jackson, St. Louis-based conservative black author said of the event, “This Tea Party Buycott will send a message that many Americans share Mr. Mackey’s concerns. We support his message and his company. We also say to other CEOs with the courage of Mr. Mackey, we will support you as well.”

Gina Loudon of St. Louis, Missouri, who conceived the Tea Party Buycott concept and website at http://www.teapartybuycott.com , said “ We’re going to hit them where it counts—the wallet.” Michael Patrick Leahy, national spokesperson for the Nationwide Tea Party Coalition said “We’re taking the Alinsky boycott tactic and we’re turning it on its head. We’re making a positive statement of support, showing that fiscally conservative Americans have purchasing power, and we are more than willing to exercise it in support of great companies like Whole Foods and great CEOs JohnMackeylike John Mackey.”

The national leadership team of the Nationwide Tea Party Coalition includes many of the local and national organizers of the April 15, 2009 Tax Day Tea Party, which was attended by an estimated one million Americans in over 900 cities. The coalition’s web site is: http://www.nationwideteapartycoalition.com .

The Wall Street Journal Op-Ed piece that CEO John Mackey wrote can be read online HERE.

Your Alamo City Pundit, his faithful webmaster, and (hopefully) hundreds of Tea Party supporters will be buying their weekly groceries between 7pm and 9pm for maximum support impact. If you can’t be there specifically during the hours of 7pm to 9pm, please do your shopping at Whole Foods on Tuesday the 1st, so your monetary support will be easily seen by the Whole Foods Staff. Also, no outdoor rally is planned in order to not inconvenience the Whole Foods Staff or cause disruptions with counter-protesters (if any show up.)

They’re trying to run a business; let’s help them out.

See You there. I’ll be the dazzlingly handsome gent wearing Nursing Scrubs.

The San Antonio Express-News has the scoop on a story with a lot of questions in it:

gonzalez2A crowd turned out this evening for Democratic Congressman Charlie Gonzalez’s health-care town hall meeting at the Edgewood Independent School District Theatre for the Performing Arts.

Hours earlier, Rep. Lamar Smith, R-San Antonio, held a similar, though less elaborate, forum in Schertz — an event that saw strong feelings, mostly against reform measures under discussion in Washington, heckling from a proponent and finally a brief altercation.

At his meeting, Gonzalez delivered a PowerPoint presentation on health-care reform that opened with George Washington’s Rules of Civility, a pointed statement on the often-testy exchanges heard at many town halls this summer. Father Eddie Bernal of St. Benedict’s delivered the invocation, and a translator provided a simultaneous Spanish-language translation to people who listened on headphones.

In other words, Charlie managed the meeting skillfully by trying to “guilt” the attendees through a priest’s presence and George Washington’s ghost. Groovy, Charlie, Groovy.

In Schertz, Smith questioned the premise of Democratic health-care reform efforts.  Smith greeted the overflow crowd of 850 at Schertz Civic Center with a broad smile and a clear shot at Democrats, including President Barack Obama, who have decried what they perceive as a lack of civility among Republicans at Congressional health-care forums this summer.

0_61_smith_lamar“I don’t care what some people in Washington say,” Smith said, to enthusiastic applause from an audience dominated by senior citizens. “This is democracy at its best.”

The San Antonio Republican argued that Democrats have inflated the number of chronically uninsured Americans, insisting that the correct figure is closer to 10 million than the oft-quoted 47 million.

Tensions remained in check at Smith’s forum until the congressman took a question from Andy Arambula, 29, who described himself as a network-development specialist for the insurance industry. Arambula accused undocumented immigrants of unfairly burdening American taxpayers, which drew repeated shouts of “Racist!” from the back of the hall by Joel Benavente, 25.

I should point out both men have hispanic surnames. Funny.

Over the second half of the gathering, Benavente continued to shout insults at opponents of health-care reform, and Smith supporters responded by telling him to “Shut up” or “Take a number.”

At the end of the forum, a woman passing by Benavente’s aisle chair jabbed him in the ribs, according to Schertz Police Captain Marc Bane. Benavente responded by pushing the woman, who fell to the floor, Bane added.

A jab can be a mistake, or an error; like stepping on someone’s toes. A push is an assault, particularly when the person loses their balance and falls.

Schertz police officers briefly detained Benavente before deciding to release him.

And he disrupted a Town Hall Meeting — and Police declined to prosecute? Why, exactly?

At one point during the gathering, Smith asked the crowd for their opinion of the 1,400-page Democratic bill currently being considered by the U.S. House of Representatives. At least 90 percent of the attendees raised their hands in opposition.

Smith offered few policy specifics at the forum, but suggested that tort reform, increased private-sector competition in the insurance industry, and insurance protection for people with pre-existing conditions would vastly improve the American health-care system.

Smith predicted that vocal opposition to a public health-insurance option will push Congress to pass a “streamlined, less expansive, less intrusive” version of the plans they’ve considered this year.

How about this? Just fix what’s broken, and leave the rest alone? Tort Reform. Portability (no “pre-existing conditions” clauses.) Just for a strat, off the top of my head, that would fix a lot right there.

2010 cannot get here fast enough, I’m telling you!
